Below The Surface architecture design studio
The Underground is an extremely experiential project, focusing on enhancing the surreal feeling of the site, which is the top of an abandoned water reservoir on the tallest hill in the middle of Manhattan, KS. As a visitor travels into the structure, the lichen like concrete cells attach themselves to the sculptural stones and rise above head level, creating a pavilion. The structure is meant to evoke an eerie feeling for anyone who explores the site. 5

parametric design The entire structure was designed and modeled using parametric design tools. An algorithm was created to execute a set of rules. A voronoi pattern was used to create the base, various cells were then extruded and morphed into concrete columns. An imaginary surface was created to continue the slope of the hill surrounding the site. Any of the concrete columns that puncture this artificial slope start to grow licken-like cells. This creates the feeling of the earth rising around any visitor that travels into the structure.

14 Street Brewery th
architecture design studio
This Brewery in the heart of downtown Kansas City focuses on giving back to the community and encourages serendipitous interactions. Its undulating roof structure takes cues from the surrounding building heights and invites visitors of the exterior beer garden inside to explore the brewing process. The columns that support the roof structure mimic the repetition of the columns of buildings just down the street. 13

The Drip architecture design studio
The Drip was a group project that aimed to improve our 3rd year architecture design studio space. This overhead form increased the quality of light and brought the oversized studio space down to a personal scale. The entire project was built from over a half mile of corrugated cardboard that was cut with a laser cutter and assembled individually based on the plans developed using an algorithmic modeling software. I was heavily involved in the construction and lead the parametric modeling that was required to create the form and necessary construction documents.

Seaton Hall Redesign architecture design studio
Seaton Hall is the home of the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design at Kansas State University. This 3rd year design studio offered me the opportunity to work in a group with fellow third year students and a 5th year graduate student to redesign our studio building. Our scheme included a scholarship residence hall and an elevated pedestrian walkway that brought fellow students into our building, with a large cantilevered studio core that encouraged different departments to collaborate with one another. The angled studio core creates a grand atrium/circulation space with generous daylight. The orientation also allows for a 3 layer passive daylighting system that blocks direct sunlight and brings diffused light into the studio spaces while still allowing views out. Architecture Library

Enid Event Center convergence design llc.
The Enid Event Center is the centerpiece of the Enid Renaissance downtown revitalization program that includes the renovation of the nearby convention hall and a new urban open space. I was involved in the production of construction documents for the project and responsible for responding to contractor inquiries.

Pathway Community Church convergence design llc.
Pathway Community Church is a small church addition in the suburbs of Kansas City. As an intern at Convergence Design LLC. I was involved with this project during design development and construction document phases. I worked with code officials and the client to make sure the project continued forward. I also was responsible for creating renderings and presentation material for client meetings.

Architectural Visualization reinkemeyer house
I worked independently to model and render a home for a family that was having difficulty visualizing the interior spaces based on the 2D AutoCAD drawings that they received from their architect.

The Architecture Student digital visual effects in architecture This video project follows a studious architecture student who is studying for a history test. When he falls asleep, he finds that his study material has come to life. The video explores alternative ways of expressing architectural concepts.

Pivot Chair k-state next big thing video competition The Pivot Chair is an affordable, flexible, stylish chair. The design is entered in the K-State Next Big Thing competition and aims to win funding to manufacture and sell the chair. I lead the team that created the video for the competition, as well as creating renderings and visualizations for other marketing purposes.
