The City stretches over 40 square miles, eight of which take the form of sparkling, fun-filled lakes Winter Haven is known as the Chain of Lakes City with two separate chains of lakes connected by an extensive canal system . With 50 lakes inside the City limits, 22 boat ramps, 14 public docks, and 30 waterfront parks, there is a multitude of fresh-water opportunities for both residents and visitors .

The City functions under a commission manager form of local government The City Commission consists of five members, elected at-large, who hold office for four years . Commissioners in office for more than nine months are eligible to serve as Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem, and are elected by the City Commission While the City Commission acts as the legislative body of the City, the day-to-day operations of the City are directed by the City Manager .

We invite you to attend our commission meetings held on the second and fourth Monday of each month in City Hall, as well as become involved in one of the many City committees . Our goal is to listen, learn, and improve through citizen engagement
