The festival brings the community together for a fun filled day of live music, dancing horses, kiddie rides, onion eating contest, pet costume contest, the Knapp Family Health fair, 1015 market and so much more. The festival is just one of many attractions Weslaco has to offer and reminds the community of Weslaco’s agricultural achievement.

On Saturday, live entertainment is scheduled all day with music from Virginia y Valor, Wreckless Texas, and Midnight Run to name a few. The evening will close with Two-time Latin Grammy winner Elida Reyna y Avante. There will be country music, oldies, Tejano and more for all to enjoy.

Curt James will be taking the stage at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Entertainment lineup after him will be Jaime G and the Adel’s (11:30), Carlos Canas (12:30), Legendzz (2:30), HotRodz (3:30), Virginia y Valor (4:30), Wreckless Texas (5:30), Midnight Run (6:30), BucknCrazy Band (7:30), and at 8:30 p.m. will be Elida Reyna y Avante.

A mascot dance off will be at 10:30 a.m., pet costume contest at 12 p.m., onion eating contest at 1 p.m. The dancing horse show will be held at 3:30 p.m. The Knapp Health Family Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Karaoke Night at Memory Blvd will be from 8 to 10 p.m. The car show starts at 11 a.m.

The event is “Rolling Downtown” and will have free admission. Kid Zone wrist bands will be available for $10 and include all rides, and the petting zoo. Weslaco invites you to come by and support the vendors and try the world-famous Sweet Texas Onion.

The Museum of South Texas History presents “Women on the Warfront,” a spotlight exhibit available for viewing through April 3. The exhibit commemorates Women’s History Month and highlights women and the roles they performed during wartime featuring photos, uniforms, and an oral history of Angélica González García. It’s the VSO’s 70th anniversary. They are celebrating with a gorgeous concert of music featuring Ravel’s bold and beautiful “Bolero” and a stunning solo cello performance of Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No. 1 by McAllen native Daniel Saenz. The 17th Brownsville Guitar Festival will be held at the TSC Performing Arts Center. There will be guitar ensemble judging and concerts on both days. March 25, at 7 p.m., will feature French guitarist Gaelle Solal. Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce hosts La Cebollita Mid-Valley Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market will feature local homegrown products including produce, unique artesian items, specialty goods, and more. There will also be live entertainment and a comfortable environment to enjoy with family and friends. The event will be located in Downtown Weslaco at 501 S. “2022: Visions of Beauty” is the theme of the annual Harlingen Flower Show, 1 to 4:30 p.m., March 26 and 27, at Harlingen Cultural Arts Center. It is sponsored by Harnito Garden Club, Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. Garden club members will showcase their floral designs and artistic crafts. Horticulture grown by members will be displayed in the center’s large gallery. The public is invited and welcome. Visitors are required to wear a mask at this venue. Admission is free. Donations will be gladly accepted. Harlingen Cultural Arts Center is at 576 ’76 Drive, next door to the Harlingen Public Library.

The Camille Playhouse will present Jekyll and Hyde for two weekends in April. Friday and Saturday shows (April 1, 2, 8, and 9) are at 8 p.m. Sunday Matinee showings (April 3 and 10) are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 for the general seating.
