The Editor “Did you enjoy your week of summer?” I heard someone say recently! Living on the Moray coast I have grown to expect the unpredictability of our weather - reason to moan, maybe? But look beyond the rain and view our beautiful Scottish outdoors. We may not have Sorento sunshine, but we’ve got scenery that is the envy of the world. So get out there and enjoy our spectacular Moray Coast - just don’t forget your brolly!

PASTORAL LETTER & CHURCH MEETINGS “I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart.” (Psalm 138:1a) Here’s a true story. A few weeks ago on a very sunny early evening, I drove to Cullen beach with the intention of walking my dog along the coast to Portknockie and then back again. It was a plan and the dog and I thought it was a good one. And so we set off and I threw many a ball for her to chase, which she proceeded to drop at my feet, ready for another chase. When both of us started panting it was our cue to head back. This was a good sign because the rain had also begun to fall. This time however, I decided to walk along the grassy path, which runs parallel with the golf course rather than saunter back along the beach. All was good, well that was until I arrived back at the car. With the dog lying prostrate at my feet with her tongue hanging out her mouth I went into my coat pocket to retrieve the cark keys. They weren’t there. I checked all my other pockets and they weren’t there either. I knew that I had them before I started the walk
(for how else could I have got there?) so I must have dropped them anywhere / somewhere between Cullen and Portknockie! Catastrophe. I had to phone home for someone to come down to the beach car park with a spare set of keys. An hour or so later I retraced ‘some’ of my steps but to no avail. The keys were well and truly lost. That evening I happened to mention my lost keys to a good friend. “Have you asked St Anthony to help you?” she said? “Whit?” I replied. “St Anthony is the patron saint of lost items, she replied. “He’ll help you find your keys.” With no disrespect to my catholic friends and colleagues I guffawed.
Now this was either sheer coincidence or something in the words I used to a long dead saint worked. My keys were found and I was a happy Presbyterian. Maybe we need to have a wee bit more faith and conviction as well as trust that the God we believe in does listen to us and acts on our petitions. If he can help me find a set of lost keys what else is he capable of!?
“He’s never let me down.” She answered giving me a look of pity and despair. The following morning I set off with dog, back along the same stretch which I had taken the previous night but this time stopping every now and again to look at the ground. I must

confess I uttered a few words to St Anthony but didn’t hold out much hope. However at one point when I called my dog back and she obeyed, I went into my pocket for a dog treat – (not for me I hasten to add) but there, lying more or less at my feet, in a patch of long grass, were my keys! Whoop! Whoop! How amazing was that?

PARLIAMENT BLOG & TIDE TIMES School summer break is in full swing here in Moray and is a great chance get round summer events in Moray's communities and speak to folk outdoors in, hopefully, half decent weather. So far I've managed a few, with Piping at Forres being a particular highlight. I, once again, entered the Tattie Scone Championship, where I came a reasonably creditable joint fourth - I'm not saying how many were in the competition, but I wasn't last! The highlight, of course, was not my tattie scone baking - even though I reckon they were tasty - but the fantastic musical talent on display with the combined efforts of literally thousands of pipers and drummers. Congratulations to all the competitors, the organisers and the Forres community for the welcoming atmosphere. A great day out.
Summer recess is well underway and is the perfect opportunity to get out and about in communities across the constituency as part of my summer surgery tour, and of course spend some time with my family. My own summer began with me taking part in the Glen Moray Bike Ride on a cold, wet Sunday. I cycled the 25 miles along with many others, raising money for the North East Sensory Services charity, which is a fantastic local cause. Having completed the 75 mile cycle last year, I expected the 25 mile challenge to be a breeze in comparison... I was wrong! However, I was delighted to finish in a respectable time and to be part of this great event. Moray has many dedicated volunteers who help make events like the Glen Moray Bike Ride happen and they deserve our praise and thanks for their contribution to fundraising, benefiting many local and national charities.

INNES HOUSE
Weddings and Corporate Entertainment A Unique place for any Occasion It is difficult to imagine a more romantic setting for your wedding than a 17th century house set in a sheltered walled garden. However, Innes is not just a stunning venue which you and your guests will never forget, but also offers a wholly flexible programme to enable you to plan your day exactly as you would like. Every wedding is unique and tailor-made for each couple. You may hold the ceremony here in the garden or in one of the two beautiful reception rooms. After the service your guests can wander around the gardens whilst you have your photographs taken in these tranquil, romantic surroundings. The reception and dinner may be held in the East Dining Room or larger parties can be held in our marquee extension which covers a walled garden complete with a summer house for the bar and a fountain around which the tables are set. After dinner you may enjoy dancing or other entertainment and then drive away down the tree lined avenue and look back on a magnificent floodlit house. Alternatively, you and some of your guests may stay the night in one of our splendidly appointed bedrooms and leave after a leisurely breakfast the next morning.
Offer extended! Any couple booking their wedding within six months of their wedding date, will be offered complimentary wedding night accommodation along with a 'Champagne Toast' upgrade of their chosen drinks package
