WIRE DÜSSELDORF PREVIEW The fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany, will once again soon play host to the largest single display of wire and cable industry technology. The global economic backdrop and market conditions have improved, and organizers are optimistic that attendance for wire Düsseldorf will be strong. This preview includes booth listings, Product Showcases (22), sidebars (organizer Q&A, p. 46; an exhibitor profile, p. 52; and a potentially hot topic, p. 56). The alpha exhibitor list starts on p. 82.
As of press time, expectations were that wire Düsseldorf would see some 2,500 exhibitors from 50 countries present their latest innovations in: wire manufacturing and finishing machinery; process technology tools; auxiliary process technology materials; special wires and cables; measuring and control technology; test engineering; and specialist areas. Per the latest figures from Messe Düsseldorf, the organizers, a total of 118,000 sq m of exhibit space for wire and Tube had been taken in 16 halls. wire 2018 will be held in Halls 9 to 16. On display will be machinery and equip-

ment for wire manufacturing and finishing, process technology tools and auxiliary materials for process engineering as well as materials, special wires and cables. Innovations from the areas such as measuring and control technology and test engineering and specialist areas will be shown. Messe Düsseldorf reports that attendees will see an even stronger focus on glass fiber cables, as there has been increasing use of these in the energy, construction and communications sectors. Traditionally well represented at wire are exhibitors from Italy, Belgium, France, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, U.K., Britain, Sweden and Germany. Other key companies are expected to come from the U.S., South Korea, Taiwan, India and China. The Fairgrounds will again host a China Pavilion. Under the heading “Meet China’s Expertise” Chinese companies from the wire, cable and
tube and pipe sectors will be presented in Hall 16. Tube 2018 will be presented in Halls 3 to 7.0 and Halls 16, 17 and 18. Wire 2018 will feature the North American Pavilion, organized by Messe Düsseldorf North America together with the Wire and Cable Industry Suppliers Association.
