FINALLY! THE SHOE IS ON THE OTHER FOOT! Winter Party has arrived, and with it comes thousands of gay men and women looking to let loose, forget about the frigid temperatures up north, and experience one of the most amazing gay dance festivals in the country! For years, The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, with the help of some terrific volunteers and board members, has organized Winter Party Festival in order to raise funds for the important work they do to defend our rights and spark change all over the country. More importantly, they utilize the funds raised during the Winter Party Festival to support the many local GLBT rights organizations located throughout South Florida. In the past few years, we have seen some promoters and DJs looking to make a quick buck at the expense of The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the dozens of organizations they support by hosting competing events that go head to head with some of the Winter Party Festival’s biggest parties. Now, as someone who has sat on a number of GLBT organization boards, regularly hosts events to raise funds for a variety of organizations, and works closely with my fellow publisher, Rafa Carvajal, to sponsor these
organizations as well, I couldn’t help but be disturbed by the fact that someone could be so focused on themselves; they are willing to throw their entire community under the bus. But even with these very disturbing feelings, I am also a proud American and very happy to live in a country where we have the ability to pursue our hopes and dreams… a place where you can go from having nothing to something with a little hard work and determination. As someone who moved to Miami at the age of 18 with no more than $500 in a bank account, no job, and no friends, I had to find a way to make it on my own. Almost 10 years later, I look back and am amazed at the journey I have taken to get to where I am today. And when I look back at this journey, I realize that at the root of my accomplishments lies the fact that we live in a capitalist based society. Over the years, I have been able to provide products and services that have made my businesses stand out and succeed. So when I first heard that there were going to be competing parties, my initial thought on the subject was, “it’s no big deal. Winter Party and White Party just need to step up their game and throw a better party!” However, for the first couple of years it was nearly impossible for these organizations to do that. Not only COVER PHOTO BY: JORGE FREIRE MODEL: JOSE BAPTISTA
did the Opium Group – the company that owns every major dance club in Miami Beach – refuse to rent out any of their spaces to either Winter Party or White Party, and the competing events also featured some of the biggest names in dance music. Needless to say the unfair advantage took a toll on the much-needed funds raised by both festivals. This year, however, the tables have turned, and Winter Party has been able to do exactly what I hoped would happen – they’ve stepped up their game by throwing an even better party with a better DJ line-up at one of the most legendary clubs in the world, Cameo! This year’s Sunday night soiree, Boiling Point: CARNIVAL @ WPF ‘11 is going to be one hell of a party. Winter Party Festival will transform Cameo Nightclub (formerly Crobar) into an all-out Brazilian Carnival party, with over-the-top production, décor, dancers, sound, and lights. To top it off, they have recruited three amazingly talented DJs to work the turntables. DJs Hector Fonseca, Brett Henrichsen, and Danny LeBlack are sure to tear it up this Sunday night! Congratulations Winter Party on another fantastic weekend of parties, culture, and community! See you on the dance floor!

POST MODERN LATE WINTER PEANUT GALLERY It's been a while since we had a look into the virtual mailbag to permit readers to have their shot at commenting, criticizing, and outright antagonizing your humble columnist. So, on the occasion of the waning days of winter (at least here), that's what we're doing this week. Below is entirely original commentary from the past several months. Please take note for future reference to use my Michael@wireweekly.com email address, as my other correspondence address, which clearly many of you have on Hate Mail Speed Dial or something, just might spam you out these days. And we don't want that. Well... some of you. Loved, loved, loved your hogs at the trough comparison with those who live off the taxpayer dollars. Thought of it again watching the teachers strike up north. I think I heard them squeal! - Alain, Miami Well, I don't know if I heard any actual oinking or not, but CNN would have edited that anyway. But I do ponder one thing: why is it that the White House can call for all Americans to tighten their belts, do with less and make sacrifices; and yet that never, never applies to government employees, who have already benefited from almost a trillion bucks in stimulus pork? It can't have anything to do with the fact that these same public service heroes make up the number one -- numero uno -- special interest/campaign contribution group in the first place. Can it? Do you still think there is no chance that the recall effort for [Miami-Dade Mayor] Carlos Alvarez to work out? -- Wilson, Miami Shores It depends on your definition of "work out." No, I don't think Alvarez will end up being removed from office, although I think he's doing a good job of demonstrating why he deserves to be dumped. It's just that politicians are powerful and I can't help but think he will find a way out of it with the same tactic so many national politicians employ: do whatever it takes, then find some lawyers who can somehow make it legal. Does it bother you that it looks like they are going to pour a ton of money into the 8 | wire magazine | wireweekly.com
Miami Beach Convention Center after all? -- Estelle, Miami Beach Bother me? No. Big expenditures of public dollars -- be it money from so-called "tourist taxes" or bonds or borrowing, always makes me nervous. And it is hard to intellectually fathom why government believes that throwing good money after bad will somehow produce a different result. But "intellectual" and "government" aren't really words that can legitimately be used in the same sentence. At least not since Thomas Jefferson. We will see what materializes and I'm not completely closed to their being a good idea out there. Haven't seen it yet. My best guess is that the MBCC will continue to weigh down the city's resources for generations. I couldn't help but notice that when you wrote about Biscayne Landing, you glossed over the fact that your buddy [North Miami Councilman Scott Galvin] and the whole city council is responsible for that mess? -- Jeff, North Miami Look, I'm the first one to blame government for its stupidity and arrogance, whether I have friends in it or not. And I have friends in most local governments. But in the case of Biscayne Landing, of all the involved parties, the city council is the one least responsible for the disaster. Most of the current members weren't on the council when the BL plan was adopted. And, on its face, the deal should have been a tremendous boon to the city. It was not a pie-in-the-sky plan like most redevelopment plans in South Florida have been. There is no way to mitigate for a record economic collapse. I don't think that even the members of Congress who engineered the housing collapse by pushing banks to give mortgages to people who couldn't possibly afford them had any idea how much damage they were doing to the entire country. So, a city council in South Florida should? No way. Sorry. I hate to give government a pass, but in this case -- I can't honestly blame the North Miami City Council. --Author and journalist Michael W. Sasser’s commentary on all things political appears exclusively in Wire Magazine. Your e-mail is welcome at Michael@ wireweekly.com.

WIRE FEATURE: TWIST WMC '11: WHEN LEGENDARY ARTISTS HIT HOT DANCE FLOORS MANNY LEHMAN
It seems that TWIST has something going on 365 days a year. From dance icons working it out on the stage to some of the biggest international DJs, you never know who will be doing it up right at TWIST. This Winter Music Conference, TWIST will welcome back a few of the DJs, entertainers, and personalities that have made the club one of the hottest dance destinations in the world. We sat down with TWIST partner, Joel Stedman, to learn more about his insane WMC ’11 line-up. Check out what he had to say, and get ready to spend your WMC on the dance floors of TWIST! How has WMC at TWIST evolved over the years?

Many of the real power brokers in the music industry would find themselves at TWIST after attending various parties and always suggested throwing more conference related events. We started with a couple of parties and this quickly grew to hosting an event every night and sometimes two parties on the same night in different areas of the club. You have an amazing line-up this year. Can you give me a daily rundown of what will be taking place? Tuesday we have Dustin Reffca's Funhouse and Drag Jockey Showcase, which as far as I know, is the only all drag showcase. These girls are really talented and we all will have a blast. Expect to see Adora, Power, and Daisy D behind the decks. The highlight of the night will be Charlotte of Company B singing her #1 classic, "Fascinated". You know the one Thomas, "Fascinated by your Love boy". She also has a hot new track she will be debuting that night. Wednesday we are presenting a new artist to TWIST, Raye 6. She has been tearing up the underground scene in Brooklyn and across the world. Very hot performance that will really surprise you. Our good friend Anasia will be coming back to perform her hot new single, "Up all night". Thursday we have the one and only Manny Lehman on the decks. Camp Entertainment brings their line-up to TWIST for a very special showcase. Internationally known DJ Steven Redant and Scotty K will also spin, as well as local favorite George Figares. Rachel Panay comes back to debut her latest collaboration and Amannda will make her first appearance at TWIST, singing her new single. Friday we have Cazwell coming for a surprise performance with his naughty dancers and the Perry Twins spinning. Saturday we have Erika Jayne coming off an amazing year with three hit singles. She puts on an amazing show. Do not miss this one. Superstar DJs Midnight Society, Craig Mitchell, and Manny Ward will also be turning it out!
Sunday is really special with a collaborative performance by Kevin Aviance, Kitty Meow, and Power Infiniti. These legends of South Beach have come together, put a band together, and will be giving a sneak peek of their new work. I love how you guys have a little bit of something for everyone. You have Adora hosting a Latin showcase. You have Manny Lehman. And you have a lot of entertainers. How do you select your DJs and performers? Well, we do try to have a little something for everyone. Our Latin nights have gotten huge over the last couple of years, so it seemed only natural to showcase Latin events. Adora and Aquiles will host the Sabroso! event with DJ Cubanito and several performers. We are lucky to have developed a great relationship with talent and management from literally around the world. We try our best to treat people right and they always seem to want to come back and perform. It really is all about just having a good time and not taking any of it that serious. Who are you most excited about this year? Well this year is going to be special with really our most talent ever. After meeting Cazwell a few years ago, and watching his career blow up, we are really excited to finally have him at TWIST. Kevin's show is really not to be missed, Manny Lehman will be unreal, but I'm really excited to reconnect with Charlotte of Company B. We met the first week I moved to Florida and it will really be great seeing her again. The Perry Twins are some pretty sexy guys. Can we expect anything scandalous to take place? They are really hot and talented, tearing up the club scene across the country. Throw in Cazwell's performance and it can only be scandalous! Can’t wait! Kevin Aviance has become a staple at TWIST. Why do you think people love him so much? Kevin started here in Miami about the time TWIST first opened. He developed a huge fan base here and quickly moved to NYC to produce several number one club anthems. His secret is his personal touch. He leaves nothing on the dance floor. Nothing is ever routine with Kevin and you always know he is singing directly from his soul. I think the crowd really gets that and appreciates his honesty. Now we get the two other SoBe legends Kitty Meow and Power Infiniti. What a trio! I can’t wait to see these girls turn it out Sunday night. This will really be a special moment in South Beach history.

WIRE COVER: WINTER PARTY '11: THE HOTTEST WINTER IN THE WORLD
BY: THOMAS BARKER PHOTOS BY: JUAN SACO MIRONOFF & RAFA CARVAJAL rom the world renowned Beach Party to an Art Deco Walking Tour, the 2011 Winter Party Festival promises an array of events and activities as diverse as the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community itself. One of the world’s largest and most anticipated events of the year, Winter Party Festival is expected to draw 10,000 revelers from around the world for more than 20 pulse-raising events, including several dance events with world-class DJs and entertainment. Beyond the parties, Winter Party Festival features art and culture, shopping, cocktail receptions, tours and events exclusively for women, all dedicated to fundraising for local and national LGBT equality efforts. “Miami Beach is, arguably, the world’s favorite playground,” said Chad Richter, chair of this year’s Winter Party Festival. “With our stellar line-up of events, DJs, and entertainers, this year’s Winter Party Festival will most definitely deliver and exceed the expectations of our guests. But it’s also important not to lose sight of the reason behind why we’re all here to have a great time. The proceeds from Winter Party Festival help continue The Task Force’s local and national fight for LGBT rights and equality. Ultimately, that’s what it’s all about.” In addition to the can’t-miss Beach Party on the sand along famed Ocean Drive, highlights of this year’s Winter Party Festival include the “Under One Sun Pool Party” on the Doubletree Surfcomber’s tropical pool deck, as well as the debut of “Winter Party Matinee,” a partnership with one of Europe’s biggest dance parties. Additional activities include a shopping adventure on the Lincoln Road pedestrian mall, a concert and reception featuring young musical artists from the Florida Grand Opera and four exciting events exclusively for Winter Party Festival’s women guests. “With apologies to Mark Twain,” Richter said, “we want everyone to know that they’ll have the hottest winter of their life at Winter Party Festival.” Produced by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Winter Party Festival raises funds to build power, take action and create change for the LGBT community. Two-thirds of the net proceeds generated from Winter Party Festival go to work locally through grants administered by the Miami Foundation (formerly the Dade Community Foundation), while the remaining one third goes to support The Task Force’s efforts nationally. Since its inception in 1994, Winter Party Festival, along with The Task Force’s annual Recognition Dinner, has raised more than $2.2 million for LGBT organizations in South Florida. To get the inside scoop on everything Winter Party, I sat down with three people, who have worked around the clock to ensure a fantastic Winter Party Festival ’11. Chad Richter has chaired the Festival for three years now, and continues to lead one of the most successful dance events in the country. Richard King has come on board as the director of club events. While working closely with Hilton Wolman, Richard has help create three nights of over-the-top dance events, including the Boiling Point: Carnival at Cameo! Of course, no Winter Party would be complete without our girls, and no one knows that better than Lisa Mercado, who headed up all of the women’s programming for this year’s Winter Party Festival. Check out what each had to say about this year’s fantastic Winter Party Festival!

WIRE COVER: WINTER PARTY '11: THE HOTTEST WINTER IN THE WORLD
You have been working with Winter Party since 2007. How has the Party evolved since you've joined the team? We have become much more focused and really treat the Festival like a business. We incorporated core values, QUEER- (Quality, Unite, Educate, Enjoy, Respect), and manage a tight budget under our finance guru, Lisa Mercado, without sacrificing the quality of our events, and have grown the Festival in attendance and numbers. As you know, the Task Force turns around and gives twothirds of the money raised back to the local community, and last year was the biggest check they have been able to write to date. The “party with a purpose” tag line is really important to all of us. What are you most looking forward to this year? I say the Beach Party every year because it really is our point of difference, and why so many people board planes to Miami Beach. It’s such a fun event. I love being able to see everyone’s bright faces and the happiness among friends. But this year I’m also looking forward to hearing Eddie Elias. The volunteering will be done and I can finally let loose! How are ticket sales going this year? They have been steady. The cold winter has helped, as it usually does, for all those last minute snowbirds, as we’ve seen a spike again this weekend. We are promising the “Hottest Winter in the World” and plan on delivering! After years of going back and forth with the Opium Group, you guys are now hosting the Sunday night party, Boiling Point at Cameo. How did that come about? We had a planning meeting at City Hall with Mayor 21 | wire magazine | wireweekly.com
Bower and made our case, and they were very open to working with us. I’m so glad that the majority of our dance events are on the beach this year. It’s easier on our guests, safer than driving, and it keeps the tax dollars in our city. What has been the response to this year's lineup of events? The ticket sales are speaking loud. People are very excited with our line-up. We have a lot of favorites and a lot of new timers to Winter Party. Alyson Calagna is going to turn out the beach party. Remember that we are a daytime beach event so GET THERE EARLY! What is different about this year's Winter Party than last year's? We are working with Matinee, who produces CIRCUIT in Spain, and using the historical Paris Theater for our Saturday night party. I attended the party for NYE and had a blast. We had monthly meetings on how to improve and make the experience event better. Since it’s not a club but an old theater, we have to actually build it into what we want. I’m looking forward to it. We’ve added the gay owned and operated Babalu Miami to our Friday night shopping night, along with FCUK, Macy’s and, of course, Kiehl’s Since 1851! And we have regained the CAMEO Theater, which is my favorite dance space on the beach. I’m so glad to be having our Sunday night dance event that pays homage to Brazil’s Carnival with Hector Fonseca, Danny LeBlack, and Brett Hendrichson. Why do you think it is important for people to support Winter Party? Until three years ago, our city didn’t have Pride and Winter Party bringing us together like no other event does. The U.S. doesn’t have many dance party events left, as most of the big parties have moved to Europe. Winter
Party helps to keep South Beach as a gay destination, brings thousands of tourists each year, and supports local GLBT organizations that rely on that funding. The Task Force is also the oldest organization in the U.S. that has been fighting for our rights and for equality since 1973. Supporting Winter Party means you are supporting your American friends who are fighting for their civil rights, you are keeping South Beach as your gay playground, you are ensuring the next generation will have a safe environment to meet friends and possibly the love of their life, and you are guaranteed to have a blast. I can’t imagine a Miami Beach without Winter Party Festival. What's in the future for Winter Party? If the city would let it, I’d love a 24-hour beach party! Wouldn’t that be amazing?! Darn sound ordinance! We are inching our way (in a few years) towards our big 20th anniversary. Send us your suggestions! You will also be hosting a shopping event. Can you tell me about that? Our Passport to Lincoln Road includes FCUK, MACY’s, Babalu Miami, and Kiehl’s Since 1851. Each will be offering up to 10 to 25 percent off discounts on products and, of course, our open Grey Goose bar! Stores also give up to 20 percent of the sales to Winter Party. It’s a win-win and always a great way to start off Friday night and to stock up on your favorite products! Anything else you want Wire readers to know? We need volunteers! It’s a great way to meet new friends, give back and to save on tickets. You can volunteer for one event or all year long! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone throughout the weekend. Make sure you say hi! Thanks for your support and to all of our wonderful volunteers.

Why did you decide to get involved with the women's events? To make sure that women get represented and have great things to do during the Festival. It is a very inclusive week and women are a big part of the local community. Why do you think it is important to have events catered to the girls? Women are a big part of the community and, even though Winter Party is traditionally a male centric event, we need to make sure that women are included and introduced to the important work of the Task Force and the importance of the Festival to the local community. Can you give me an overview of all the Winter Party women's events? This year we are hosting the fabulous Women’s Art Exhibit and cocktail Reception, which will feature the work of four artists from the LGBT community, including the abstract paintings of Carla Fache, a video installation by Silvia Ros, the abstract meets figurative paintings of Mary Larsen, and the stunning photography of Suzanne Abramson. The event will also feature live entertainment by local indie favorite Sirens and Sealions and music by DJ Dezrock. For the first time there will be a dinner event associated with Pa’ella, our Official Latin Dance Event. The dinner will be at the critically acclaimed restaurant 660 at The Angler’s. Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli has added a delectable Latin infused three-course pre-fixed menu for Winter Party Festival guests. After dinner, you can head across the street to Nowhere Lounge for a night of dancing to the sounds of Citizen Jane. A ticket to the 22 | wire magazine | wireweekly.com
dinner gets you into Pa’ella until midnight. On Saturday night Pandora Events has put together an amazing evening in a decadent venue with Dinah Shore and DJ Lisa Pittman. Which events are you most looking forward to? I am looking forward to all the events. They are all different and great in their own way. I look forward to the art exhibit this year. Two of the artists are photographers and that is one of my hobbies, so I love to see all the different techniques and works. You have some really amazing DJs spinning this year. Can you fill me in on who they are, how they were selected, and why you picked them?
She continues to play private events and has played for major women's parties such as Aqua Girl and Winter Party Festival. It is also great to have women represented throughout the festival. Twisted Dee spinning at the Pool Party and our own Alyson Calagna headlining at the Beach Party! It is going to be the hottest winter in the WORLD! Which promotional/production partners are you working with on these events? We have been working with Pandora Events since the Task Force took over the event and they produce our Signature Women’s Dance Event Industry. For the past three years, Icandee Events (Lynn Bove) has been producing our Official Latin Dance Event. It is great to have them as part of our team, because they produce fabulous events
Citizen Jane has a vast music style that has no boundaries, making her a crowd favorite at some of the biggest women’s events, so we are excited to have her playing at Pa’ella. DJ Lisa Pittman is one of the most recognizable female DJs on the scene. She travels from her home base of Las Vegas to spin for some of the most notorious girl parties on the planet, including Club Skirts, The Dinah, Aqua Girl in Miami, Girls in Wonderland, and Olivia Cruises. She is also resident DJ for Tao Group, which is currently rated the number one nightclub in world. But it’s not all on the straight and narrow. She also throws the biggest girl on girl party in Vegas called "Bootybar".
How has Winter Party evolved through the years?
Dezrock is a Miami native who started deejaying 20 years ago while majoring in classical guitar. She went on to manage a local record/CD store for 10 years and that experience influenced her broad range in music.
With so many events like Winter Party going away, it is exciting to see WPF thriving and growing. The festival will just continue to grow and produce better and better events!
Winter Party has grown in so many ways, due in large part to the Executive Committee that has been in place for the past few years. It is great when you have a team in place that works together well. It makes it easier to grow the Festival and make it more efficient, which translates into more money raised for the community and the Task Force. Where do you see Winter Party headed in the future?

DJ Alyson Calagna
DJ Abel Where are you from and how long have you been in South Florida? I’m originally from Omaha, NE and Kansas City, MO. I lived in Phoenix for nine years, and then moved to South Florida in 2006. How did you get involved with Winter Party? After attending many of the event weekends, I wanted to know about the production side of things. I decided to volunteer to learn about producing. Why not learn from the best, and give back to the community at the same time! I knew it was produced by the Task Force, but didn’t know about all the good work the Task Force does. Why do you think it is important to get involved and support Winter Party? It’s important to get involved because although many other event weekends are fun, a lot of them do not support the community. The Task Force was a major influence in the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” as well as a continuing influence in the pending employment non-discrimination act. Both of these hit home with me. The Task Force continues to work on advancing the pro-LGBT agenda as well as defeating anti-LGBT legislation. Not only this, but 2/3 of the proceeds from WPF come back to support many south Florida organizations. Can you give me an overview of all the Winter Party club events? Thursday night is the first dance event at Score called “Ignite.” Stephan Grondin’s first WPF appearance is sure to be the talk of the town. Score is such a fun club and we have a great relationship with them. Last year’s event at Score was packed. We’re bringing WPF dancers to Score also. 23 | wire magazine | wireweekly.com
DJ Hector Fonseca Friday night we return to Dolce for “Mercury Rising.” Dueling DJs Dave & Gerardo, who also are boyfriends, are making their first WPF appearance, opening for DJ Abel. We’ve got a lot of hot dancers in awesome costumes ready to entertain, and we’ve partnered with Laseronics to bring the biggest laser show we’ve ever had at WPF. Other special production highlights will be there as well. Expect several “wow” moments! All of this, and we also have Erika Jayne. WPF is partnering with Hilton Wolman on this event. Hilton is known for throwing fabulous events, and we’re very excited about this night. Be sure to get there early as well to take advantage of the $50 open bar upgrade, which is not only drinks, but also includes unlimited bottled, water, Gatorade, juice, and energy drinks. Saturday night we are at the marvelous Paris Theater for the Matinee party. Matinee produces over-the-top events in New York and Europe. Expect a lot of visuals, live acts, aerialists, performers, dancers, costumes, and a special performance sure to get everyone’s hands in the air. DJ Theresa is opening for Taito Tikaro. The Matinee Group is great to work with and has great ideas. Joining Matinee, Hilton Wolman, and WPF is going to result in a fantastic party. Saturday night is also our leather event in Fort Lauderdale called “Sweat.” DJ Eddie Baez is sure to turn it out, and we’re having a performance by the south Florida Bondage Society. Hey, Winter Party is a festival! Sunday night we are proudly returning to Cameo for “Boiling Point ~ Carnival.” Cameo has done an extensive renovation and looks fantastic. Our décor and production will make everyone think they’ve magically gone to Rio for their big festival. We’re clearing out all the furniture that normally sits on the dance floor to make a big open room. There are still places to sit of course! Laseronics is again bringing a gigantic full-color show. We have
three DJs this night. Brett Henrichsen from Masterbeat is always a crowd pleaser, Danny LeBlack is coming to us from Madrid, Spain as a Resident DJ of Space of Sound, and we’re proud to headline Hector Fonseca. We’re bringing in over-the-top costumes for the WPF dancers as well. Every year there are a number of hosts who come on board to make Winter Party a huge success. Who are some of your hosts this year, and what will they be doing? Our Hosts are very special to us as they help us spread the word for the Festival and its events. This year, we’re proud to welcome Michael Stanley, Chyna, the Penny Back Boyz, and OAG Productions as hosts of our Sunday night event, Boiling Point. They’ll help us ensure that everyone knows there’s only one place to go on Sunday night and that’s Cameo. Which events are you most looking forward to? I’m certainly looking forward to all of them, but the Carnival party is going to be talked about for months to come. We know there is a competing event, so make sure to make the right choice and come to Carnival! Not only will it be by far more fun, but you will also be supporting the Task Force and the community. We’re bringing a great party, and it will be packed so make sure to bring your cameras! The legendary Monday morning party is always a hit. Joe Gauthreaux is outstanding, Eddie Elias always turns it out, and I'm very much looking forward to sharing some dance floor time with everyone at Hilton Wolman's event.

Finally, it should be noted that infidelity, or "cheating," is best defined as behavior that occurs outside the relationship which is kept secret from one’s partner, or against the spoken or unspoken rules that a couple has agreed to. Many couples, gay and straight, do not have prohibitions against outside sexual activity, however any unilateral bending of the rules or secretive behavior is considered cheating, however minor it may seem. The rule of thumb is: if you aren’t willing to tell your partner exactly what you are doing, it’s probably cheating. Dr. Gregg A.
