More than 200 participating restaurants from over 20 neighborhoods throughout Greater Miami and Miami Beach are ready to serve you. According to David Whitaker, President & CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, “Miami Spice continues to evolve through the introduction of elevated menu options with currently 19 of our MICHELIN recognized restaurants and new dining experiences from more than 35 recently opened restaurants or first-time program participants.” I had dinner at Abbale Telavivian Kitchen, Bourbon Steak, Hakkasan, Isabelle’s Grill Room & Garden, Lion & The Rambler, Patio Isola, R House Wynwood, and TUR Kitchen for this special Dining Delicious issue of Wire Magazine
Dining Delicious Miami Spice special issue. I dined at eight delicious restaurants to sample some of the many mouthwatering offerings from the eating houses participating in the 2022 Miami Spice dining program. I recommend that you try them all. One restaurant in particular stood out to me for putting the spice in Miami Spice by delivering a delectable dinner menu, vibrant atmosphere, live music and outstanding drag shows – R House Wynwood. I had a super fun night dining at R House this past Saturday and highly recommend experiencing their very unique and very Miami dining experience with live entertainment.
During the months of August and September, this year’s Miami Spice brings you prix fixe, three-course meals at some of the best Greater Miami and Miami Beach restaurants for $28 for lunch/brunch and the option of $45 or $60 for dinner – which is a new addition to the program. Participating eateries range from traditional favorites to MICHELIN-recognized restaurants that deliver a wide range of international flavors from the most delightful cuisines from around the globe in our very own backyard. I suggest visiting ilovemiamispice.com to browse through all the restaurants and their most current menu options, in order to choose your favorites.

This restaurant brings the flavors and spices of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine to our city. Our dinner appetizers were Salatim with baba ghanoush, hummus and abba’s pickle; and Grilled Peach & Halloumi with watermelon, herbed labneh, pickled fresnos, poblano and sumac dressing. The entrées were Lamb Kefte with charcoal tahini, grated tomato, chermoula and herb salad; and Grilled Branzino with preserved lemon tapenade, olive oil, sea salt and arugula salad. I have always enjoyed dining at this delicious American steakhouse famous for its signature butter-poached steaks and duck fat fries. James Beard award-winning chef and renowned restaurateur Michael Mina created an eating house with smoky mirrored glass and artistic gilded finishes that delivers excellent cuisine and craft cocktails. You can also choose from a selection of over 850 wines from their Wine Spectator award-winning cellar to complement your dinner experience. Our appetizers included a truly delightful Golden Tomato Gazpacho with avocado mousse, basil and brioche crouton; and Hamachi Crudo with watermelon, mango, mint and tarro root. The 7 Oz. New York Strip Prime with roasted sweet corn chimichurri; and Whole Fried 10 Oz. Semi-Boneless Poussin with black truffle gravy were our entrées, accompanied with Mac & Cheese Black Truffle as a side. For desserts, we enjoyed the Chocolate Hazelnut Tart with dark chocolate namelaka, hazelnuts, Nutella cream and raspberry sauce; and Tropical Key Lime Pie with toasted meringue, graham cracker and mango sorbet.

HAKKASAN
Isabelle’s Grill Room & Garden in The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove was named in honor of Isabella Peacock, who was one of the Grove’s earliest settlers. We had dinner in the beautiful outdoor garden terrace surrounded by over-sized planters and lush green landscaping, sitting at a natural wood table on white and taupe woven chairs with plush cushions, plus the relaxing sounds of a waterfall in the background. Our sumptuous dinner started with the Feta Bruciata with blistered tomatoes and lemon agrodolce; and the American Waygu Carpaccio with dijon truffle vinaigrette, aioli, Manchego and salt cured egg yolk. The Faroe Island Salmon with signature hash, romanesco, green pea tendrils and bell pepper crema; and Fresh Pappardelle with seasonal mushrooms, charred onion and Meyer lemon were delicious entrées. Our desserts were the Coconut Mousse with Valrhona 64% chocolate crémeux filling and vanilla sable; and the Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée with vanilla bean olive oil cake and tropical fruit.

Acclaimed chef/restauranter José Mendín and Executive Chef Santo Agnello transformed the former La Placita into Patio Isola. This delicious alfresco Italian eatery serves comfort cuisine in the heart of Miami’s MiMo district, and is the sister restaurant to the very-popular Casa Isola in Miami Beach’s Sunset Harbour. We started our delectable dinner with the Arancini Isola; and the Meatball Salad. Our entrées were the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, perfectly prepared al dente; and the Chicken Parm. We then savored the Tiramisu and Coconut Pannacota for desserts. All Italian comfort food indeed!
LION & THE RAMBLER
Restaurateur Luis Villanueva very accurately explained that “TUR Kitchen offers a warm and welcoming ambiance, consisting of top service and great flavors, delivering a pleasant gastronomic experience for friends and family." This contemporary, ingredient-forward restaurant took us on a captivating journey of the food and drinks from the Mediterranean basin. The elegant dishes brought together authentic flavors from this region of the world and modern techniques, while putting an emphasis on using locally sourced ingredients. Our appetizers were Manti with Turkish dumplings of lamb, labneh, tahini, sumac and pistachios; and Burrata with San Marzano sorbet, nasturtium, elixir gel and crumbs. The two entrées were Lamb Chops Moroccan mint tea infused with carrot puree, crispy Yukon potatoes and green peas; and Bluehouse Salmon mi-cuit with asparagus velout é , sprouts, aquafaba aioli and tomato confit. For desserts, we loved the Phyllo Napoleon with crispy phyllo, cardamom-allspice smoked chantilly, coffee and berries; and the Kunafa, with phyllo, rose water, Armenian sweet cheese, pistachios and berries.

Many Americans are fortunate to have dental coverage for their entire working life, through employer-provided benefits. When those benefits end with retirement, paying dental bills out-of-pocket can come as a shock, leading people to put off or even go without care.

Why you need dental insurance in retirement.
Even if you’ve had quality dental work in the past, you shouldn’t take your dental health for granted. In fact, your odds of having a dental problem only go up as you age.2 Treatment is expensive — especially the services people over 50 often need. Consider these national average costs of treatment ... $217 for a checkup ... $189 for a filling ... $1,219 for a crown.3 Unexpected bills like this can be a real burden, especially if you’re on a fixed income.
When comparingyou’replans ...
Medicare doesn’t pay for dental care.1 That’s right. As good as Medicare is, it was never meant to cover everything. That means if you want protection, you need to purchase individual insurance. Early detection can prevent small problems from becoming expensive ones.
The best way to prevent large dental bills is preventive care. The American Dental Association recommends checkups twice a year. Includes the Participating (GA: Designated) Providers and Preventive Benefits Rider. Product not available in all states. Acceptance guaranteed for one insurance policy/certificate of this type. “I don’t worry” “Now that I have your dental policy, I don’t worry about going to the dentist. I love your plan — you pay what you say!” Colleen W., MO
Look for coverage that helps pay for major services. Some plans may limit the number of procedures — or pay for preventive care only. Look for coverage with no deductibles. Some plans may require you to pay hundreds out of pocket before benefits areShoppaid.for coverage with no annual maximum on cash benefits. Some plans have annual maximums of $1,000.
Simply put — without dental insurance, there may be an important gap in your healthcare coverage. Previous dental work can wear out.
