simco drive – distributed servo amplifier for high-performance applications More intelligent More efficient More secure
simco drive – new ideas for innovative drive systems Applications and benefits There are plenty of good reasons to forge ahead with the concept of distributed servo amplifiers as opposed to classic arrangements in a control cabinet. The chance to save space and hence improve efficiency is probably mentioned more often than any other. WITTENSTEIN motion control‘s simco drive is an innovative servo amplifier that opens up brand new opportunities for smart drive solutions and distributed integration concepts, laying the foundation for ultra-efficient drive systems. simco drive is ideal whenever precise traversing and positioning at high speeds is a must, for example in the following industries

Thanks to the IP65 protection of the simco drive housing, this servo amplifier can be installed in the field at distributed locations. The system can therefore be integrated into the machine architecture in a flexible, modular way with only minimal wiring. simco drive also impresses with a set of extremely useful features: · · · · ·
Top performance in regards to cycle times and current control Intuitive, easy start-up Efficient integration and maintenance in less time Open, flexible communication and control concept Compact, space saving design
simco drive is additionally an ideal building block in system solutions with other WITTENSTEIN products such as motors and actuators. It is also compatible with most other electronically commutated drives.
Technology & communication simco drive was designed for electronically commutated (EC) servo motors with up to 500 W continuous power, a short-time peak power of 1 kW and voltages from 24 V DC to 48 V DC at a nominal current of 10 A. The simco drive servo amplifier offers very high-resolution current control (up to 16 bit) as well as fast current sensing (less than 8 µs) – ideal preconditions for high-precision torque control and high dynamics in the current control loop. It is equally suited for autonomous positioning or for incorporation in a closed control loop with setpoint communication in real time. The following fieldbuses and encoder interfaces are available: Fieldbuses · CANopen acc. to DS402 · EtherCAT CoE

Safety, operation, maintenance The separate power supply to the power and logic electronics guarantees very good noise immunity and facilitates compliance with the low voltage directive, even at operating voltages exceeding 48 V. There is no need to reinitialize the system if the power is removed. The system is ready to use via the electronic nameplate as soon as it is connected – the fact that no complex manual parameterizing is required eliminates a traditional source of errors. The operator is guided by an intuitive graphical user interface whenever the machine is started up, diagnosed or serviced. Diagnostic routines and event logging are implemented with a real-time clock. Condition monitoring or integration and maintenance work can thus be completed very efficiently in minimal time. The simco drive architecture also provides maximum future security and flexibility when it comes to new software developments.
Electronics and motors from a single supplier cyber® dynamic line – highly dynamic servo motors simco drive makes an ideal partner for the cyber® dynamic line – a new family of brushless servo motors from WITTENSTEIN cyber motor. The cyber® dynamic line is suitable for performance ranges between 25 W and 335 W, creating totally new opportunities for machine design. These servo motors achieve shorter cycle times at higher acceleration values because their motions are more dynamic. Owing to their high torque, energy efficient direct drives with reduced heat generation can be realized in a smaller space envelope. cyber® dynamic line and simco drive – the perfect doubles team: Motor and servo amplifier from a single supplier, quick start-up, one-cable solution, maximum dynamics! Both systems share the same development philosophy: security, intelligence (in the form of functionality) and resource efficiency are integrated at an early stage, and account is taken of three key technological trends – miniaturization, integration and network connectivity.
