01 URBAN PARASITE
A research about homelessness in Chengdu and a system design for the well-being of both the city and homeless people. AUTOMATIC FOOD BANK, CITY ORDER, PEOPLE INVOLVING LOCATION: CHENGDU, SICHUAN PROVINCE, CHINA
HOW SHOULD HOMELESS SURVIVE IN THE CITY LIKE PARASITE SURVIVE IN A HOST?
Before & After involving the system. Shelter Places available for homeless people
Cases under different circumstances
Principle: First make sure the device is easy for people to put stuff in(not far from where they live or work and easy to handle). Second it should be easy for homeless people to recognize. Then, it should be easy to make and manufacture, cost should be low. The design should make neither side feel awkward.
A case through the wall: easy to handle, but the contents are exposed and need packing People can see each other, make cause embarrassment.
A drawer through the wall (can open both side) Contents are covered, and people will not see each other.
Unable to control the amount of resource each take.
Unable to identify people, stuff can be taken by anyone. Not specially for homeless.
If one overly takes, others will not get enough resource. Still causing waste.
Mass arrangement; Multi-time take; People separated; Identify.
Rotating boards. Easy to handle both ways. Also gives a limitation to each take to make full use of the resource.
This project is located around the original stone bridge, a historical site where the old train tracks and station used to be. The four 200m by 200m areas are models of four typical parcel modes in Shijiazhuang city: industrial (logistics and workshops in this project) yard, high density apartments, low density community and facilities, commercial complex. Each area has its own residential pattern (dormitories in industrial area, studios in commercial area), trying to explore the work-live typology in post-pandemic era. FACILITIES OF RAILWAY DEPARTMENT

EMERGING INDUSTRY
Shijiazhuang is known as 'a city brought up by train'. Starting as a train station in early 1900s where two main train trails met, one from north China to south, the other from east to west, she has gradually attracted merchants and travelers all over the country, who demanded more staff members serve in train system. The original villages could not settle these workers, so they built new residential buildings as dormitories. New residents needed infrastructures, like schools, restaurants, hospitals, etc. There came the city, layer by layer as a circulation.
Space under the bridge used to be a market where hundreds of vendors gathered. I use wooden blocks to recreate a retailing area, letting commercial activities back to human scale. Wooden bridges and facades in other areas are echoes to this element.
REFUGEE SETTLEMENT SITE: ÖSTERMALM, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN COMMUNITY WITH SOME OPEN SPACES, DEDICATED FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES SIZE: 6400㎡ 59°N 18°E
This is a conceptional community design proposal in studio, whose site is alien to all. I did research about climate, daylighting, forests, water, culture, tradition, and lifestyle there.
Sunlight and daylighting situation in Stockholm is extensive. A design should keep that in mind.
The site is located beside a national park and two main freeways, a semi-surburb area of the city. Given that a lot of refugees are single mothers with children(men deceased in wars), apart from basic living, residents here also need some skill training spaces and daycare center(for kids).
Many men have left to fight, been detained or killed, leaving women with added responsibilities of earning an income, on top of their traditional roles of caring for children and managing the household. With world attention focused upon military action and power politics in the Syria Crisis, women carry a heavy load for the sake of their families.
“I lost my job when the war started. I had no income and could not buy food for my children. Sometimes I would go to the bakery to ask for some bread,” Salma says. The 47-year-old now endeavors to put food on the table. “We must fight to provide for our families, especially when we are on our own,” she adds.
A research about food culture and restaurants’ layout in Stockholm. Revealing customs there. We can tell middle-east cuisine plays a big role In Sweden’s diet, at least for leisure eating.
Site and surroundings. Function zones and housing units.
Housing units(with middle-east architectural elements in mind)

HOTEL RESORT SITE: CHENGDU, SICHUAN PROVINCE, CHINA HOTEL, RESTAURANT, LANDSCAPE SIZE: 3000㎥
The site of this project is between a freeway out of town and a river running through Chengdu, a famous tourists' destination in China. The goal is to design a resort with some symbolic specialties or highlight themes. I got the idea from a game called Mafia: A group of people gather at a crime scene trying to figure who is the murderer by talking to each other. The circulation of this project is like this: The restaurant is at the entrance opening to the public, at the end of the entrance, there is a slide to underground. After coming up people are in a plaza leading to the hotel area which is like a maze. In the end is the court, which is open and representing problem solved.

I am haunted, physically and mentally, by the words 'reflection in the mirror', or 'der Spiegel im Spiegel', though I am still on the way to figure out what that is.
This design is to trace back or to brush against the grain my intuition two years ago..
05 TRIANGLE ART MUSEUM SITE: CHENGDU, SICHUAN PROVINCE, CHINA GALLERY, STORAGE, OFFICE, STUDIO, LAVATORY SIZE: 612㎥
I merged the three spaces of different exhibits into one to offer a chance which you can compare or combine different works. Also to review the works in various aspects. I used non-ordinary figures (like a diagonal in a rectangle) to create an eye-catching structure while being harmonious to the surroundings (most buildings in the campus are geometrical).
06 ROTATING SOUND STAGE
MOVIE SET SIZE: 4000sq.ft SITE: ALBUQUERQUE, NM, UNITED STATES (Under the theme of ‘blurry threshold’)
07 TAMARIND FAÇADE RENOVATION SITE: ALBUQUERQUE, NM, UNITED STATES (Under the theme of ‘blurry threshold’)
The owner wanted the museum outstands more and attract people. I created a more interactive façade by the main entrances to draw pedestrians’ attention, in order to lead them to the threshold. I used decorated rollers with letters on it, and people can spell the name of the building by themselves. Tamarind is a print gallery, so the rollers are also indicating what we can see inside.
