‘Whether we agree with them or not, we treat them with respect’: Faculty Senate emphasize facultystudent relationship

WKU Faculty Senate Chair Gordon McKerral emphasized to the university its obligation to treat students with respect at the senate’s November meeting on Thursday. McKerral closed his opening remarks to the senate with an address to all of the WKU community, reminding them of the importance of showing respect to their students “I think one of the things that we all owe our students,” McKerral said, “Whether we ’ re faculty or staff or administrators – from the highest level on down to the people who don’t get paid enough to clean our buildings – that we have to treat our students respectfully. “They deserve that.”

‘I didn’t think I had a shot’: Sarah Vincent crowned 2024 WKU Homecoming Queen

Sarah Vincent of Bardstown, Kentucky, a senior public health and healthcare administration major, was crowned WKU’s 2024 homecoming queen on Saturday, Nov. 16. She was sponsored by her sorority Kappa Delta and Pi Kappa Alpha Vincent was one of 42 homecoming queen candidates recognized at halftime during WKU’s football game against New Mexico State, according to WKU News. She was presented her award by 2023 Homecoming Queen Millie LeJeune and WKU President Timothy Caboni

Vincent said being crowned homecoming queen was a very surreal moment. She said she was glad she was escorted by Kappa Delta’s daggerman, Nate Partin, who she escorted earlier in the year when he was a candidate for the 2024 coming home king

“It was a crazy moment,” Vincent said. “It was so exciting, though, and when I walked out of the gate, all of my friends had come down from the stands and they were there to say hi to me, so that was really awesome too ”

WKU Restaurant Group holds annual ‘Freshgiving’

The smell of turkey, stuffing and other Thanksgiving food moved throughout Downing Student Union where students lined up in anticipation, rushing to be first in line for food.

The WKU restaurant group held its annual friendsgiving event on Thursday at Fresh Food Company Students had the opportunity to use a meal swipe for a Thanksgiving dinner “Freshgiving is our way of celebrating Thanksgiving, the holiday of inviting our students to come in and just enjoy food and fellowship with their fellow students,” Restaurant District Manager Robert Huffman said. “It gives our employees a chance to do some different food and set up a little bit different and just enjoy the time with each other ”
