WKU Student Government Association holds first meeting of new academic year

The Student Government Association held its first meeting of the fall 2024 semester on Tuesday, where senators were appointed to the Senate and the Judicial Council, the budget and several committee heads were approved and President Timothy Caboni delivered university updates to the 24th Senate.
Caboni gave remarks on the university’s plans to update Douglas Keen Hall, Hugh Poland Hall, the Gordon Ford College of Business and Cherry Hall, the restructuring of the Mahurin Honors College, the push for WKU to become an R2 research institution and the completed Opportunity Fund goal. These were sentiments Caboni shared in his annual Faculty and Staff Convocation.
“Lastly, and this may be my most important accomplishment as president of the university, beginning this fall orange chicken is a meal swipe,” Caboni concluded.

The Herald Editorial Board met with members of the Executive Cabinet of the WKU Student Government Association following the first Senate meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
Leaders who sat down with the Herald were Student Body President Sam Kurtz, Student Body Vice President Donte Reed, SGA Chief Financial Officer Ethan Taylor, Speaker of the Senate Sarah Vincent and Judicial Council Chief Justice Ellen Henderson
Each of the leaders, who represent SGA’s three branches, expressed their excitement for the new academic year and for continuing to serve Hilltoppers
WKU Office of Sustainability, WKU Restaurant Group to host Market on the Avenue

The WKU Office of Sustainability and WKU Restaurant Group will host the first Market on the Avenue of the academic year on Wednesday, Aug. 28. There will be 16 vendors set up at the event including Big Poppa’s Popcorn, Bluegrass Blueberries, Dead Nettle Creek, Gone Nuts, Green Earth Stones, Happy Hen Bakery, Hilltopper Nutrition, Kanbol Corn Containers, Office of Sustainability, Resin ate, River Bend Blooms, Runaway Love, Starry Eyed Seraphine, Vette City Vintage, Walnut Bluff Farm and the WKU Restaurant Group.
