Good morning, Hilltoppers!

This morning we're starting your morning with news on the Office of Sustainability, SGA's Pink Walk and the upcoming softball and baseball fall seasons Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Office of Sustainability works to make on-campus living easier

Inside a brick house on Regents Avenue is the Office of Sustainability, which works to make the Hill a more environmentally friendly place and houses the WKU Food Pantry The Office of Sustainability leads projects on campus to improve the school’s effect on the environment. Its website states, “As an office, we feel a moral obligation to our students, our local and global communities, and the planet to do our part in mitigating environmental problems through sustainability initiatives and by training our students to prepare for crucial emerging issues ”

The office’s recent efforts have been led by Leslie North, who became the second director of the Office of Sustainability in 2018, and has since made several strides toward making WKU a more sustainable campus. North’s efforts have been fruitful, from earning the Hill three Green Dining certificates to qualifying the campus for international sustainability recognition for three years in a row.

The WKU Student Government Association passed 3 new bills including funding for the SGA Pink Walk, funding for the SGA Success Drive, and funding for the Mahurin Honors College to purchase books regarding civic engagement.

Bill 1-24-F was unanimously passed to fund the SGA Pink Walk, which aims to raise Breast Cancer Awareness and raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation, whose mission is “to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. ” The bill was presented by Vice President Donte Reed.

“I’m sure you guys remember this bill from last school year, ” Reed said “This is a walk for students and members of the community to help raise money for breast cancer research, spread awareness and for preventative programs ”

WKU softball, baseball announce fall seasons

WKU softball will kick off their fall season on Sept 25 following a 33-20-1 2024 spring season.

Head Coach Amy Tudor announced an eightgame slate for the fall season that features four home double-headers All four opponents the Hilltoppers will face are non-Division I schools in the region.

WKU will begin the season Wednesday with a double-header against Volunteer State Community College
