Bishop William L. Washington Bishop W. L. Washington is the Chief Apostle and Presiding Prelate of the Power House of Deliverance Churches. Bishop Washington married First Lady Alice B. Washington on January 3, 1970, and they are the proud parents of five children: Galind, Karla, Kathy, Katrice, and Kalind. And as Bishop Washington always says, “Don’t forget my grandbabies (which numbers 7) and my two great-grands, for they are my heart.” As Bishop Washington has insisted, being the Father that he is, this list of children must include, Cynthia, Winona, Mel & Fred, and the list goes on, and on, and on. For his testimony is, “My greatest treasures are my relationships, not the things that I possess.” Bishop’s ministry reaches back to 1968, which began on the sawdust trails of tent crusades, street preaching, door-to-door witnessing, workshops, revivals, conferences, prison ministries, youth ministries, and evangelism to win the lost at all cost. He was ordained to the office of Bishop on August 17, 1985. He was National Youth President of the Power House of Deliverance Churches for 23 years and cofounded “Youth on the Move for Christ,” an interdenominational youth organization, along with Dr. L. Ramona Howard. They led this organization from March 1973 to August 1986, and through it Bishop was able to inspire and encourage youth all over the world with his great testimony of the love of Jesus Christ. Today, Bishop still “walks in his gift” of reaching out to the youth by giving them words of wisdom. His love and support is greatly felt by all. Before becoming the Senior Pastor of the Power House of Deliverance Garden Cathedral in Greensboro, NC in August of 1991, he previously pastored the Power House of Deliverance Church in Westover, WV, which he founded in January 1982. He traveled between West Virginia and North Carolina pastoring both churches from 1991-1996. In 1996, a new pastor was installed at the church in Westover, WV as Bishop focused his pastoral gift at the headquarters church in Greensboro. Now as Bishop and Overseer of the Power House of Deliverance Churches, he also sits on the Board of Directors for the Joint College of AfricanAmerican Pentecostal Bishops’ Congress under the directives of Metropolitan, Bishop J. Delano Ellis II. On March 14, 2004, he received his Doctor of Divinity Degree in Rome Italy, while at the Cathedral of Santa Susanna. His weekly radio and television broadcast, “Hour of Deliverance,” reaches many throughout the Triad area, delivering a powerful, uncompromising, and rich Word from the Lord. Now, as he propels into his next level of ministry, Bishop Washington can add Executive Record Producer and published Author to his credentials. Bishop Washington and the Power House of Deliverance Cathedral Choir released their debut album, “The Christ Factor,” on August 8, 2008. This CD is full of uplifting messages, Gospel enriched lyrics, and melodies of praise likened unto angels. And coming in 2009, Closing Doors on the Echoes of the Past, a collection of sermons preached by Bishop Washington, has been wonderfully transcribed into a well-versed book that will allow the readers to forget those things which are behind them, and press towards the mark of what is before them. God is constantly working and moving in Bishop Washington’s life, as he continues with an eye single unto the Lord. Until HIS imminent return, Bishop W. L. Washington remains Your Servant for Christ Sake (2 Cor. 4:5).
