FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE D.C. REAL ESTATE FIRM MAKES SECOND DONATION IN SIX MONTHS TO TEAM RUBICON A VETERANBASED DISASTER RELIEF NGO WASHINGTON ‐ On December 1, Public Properties, LLC, a Washington, DC commercial real estate firm, presented its second check for $12,500 to Jake Wood, president of Team Rubicon Disaster Relief [www.teamrubiconusa.org], a veteran based non‐profit organization formed the day after the Haiti earthquake in January, 2010. Since that first deployment, Team Rubicon has sent medical missions to earthquake victims in Chile, provided medical training to refugees on the Thai/Burma border, and reached out to thousands of flood victims in Pakistan in desperate need of oral rehydration therapy, when other groups could not or would not enter the country. First Lady Michele Obama acknowledged Team Rubicon’s work in her speech to the plenary session of the Clinton Global Initiative this past summer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KURX8nbrw8 Accepting the check, Wood, a decorated Marine veteran who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, expressed his group’s appreciation for Public Properties’ support, “Team Rubicon is excited to partner with Public Properties, as they were the first corporation to take a chance on a fledgling organization in which they saw tremendous potential. We hope that this is only the beginning of a long and mutually beneficial relationship.” The $12,500 donation was the second half of a $25,000 commitment from Public Properties, made six months ago, which not only included financial support, but mentoring and future office space to help coordinate Team Rubicon’s humanitarian missions around the world. According to Ben Butler, managing principal of Public Properties, “Team Rubicon fits the model of the veteran oriented non‐profit we want to support. We saw an opportunity to help returning veterans transition to the private sector while using their military skills to help people in need. We are happy to offer our business experience as well as our financial assistance for the excellent work that Team Rubicon’s veterans are doing throughout the world.”
### Team Rubicon provides rapid deployment disaster relief. We bridge the critical time gap between large natural disasters and conventional aid response. We provide vanguard medical care by fielding small, selfsustaining, mobile teams of specially skilled firstresponders, including combat veterans, firefighter/paramedics and medical personnel. To deploy rapidly, we rely heavily on a horizontal command structure, social networking technology, and the employment of local nationals.
