Sheila Miller and her daughter Jamie Leigh paint a 6-inch tile to install on First Step’s Family Support Center’s new community services facility. First Step, a United Way partner agency, is selling the You-Paint Tiles bearing the First Step bear logo. Once painted, the tiles will be placed around the agency’s new building, expected to open in November. Two sizes and prices are available: 4-inch squares cost $10; 6-inch squares are $25. A kick-off is scheduled from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Port Angeles Farmers Market at Fourth and Peabody streets. Tiles also are available for purchase and painting at Aglazing Art Studio, 713 E. First St., Port Angeles. SmileMobile visits Sequim Washington Dental Service Foundation SmileMobile, which travels the state offering examinations to children who might not otherwise have access to dental care, will be in Sequim from 12:45-4 p.m. July 20; 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m. July 21; and 8:45 a.m.-noon July 22 at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim. The SmileMobile is staffed by a clinic manager, dentist and dental assistant, plus teams of local volunteer dental professionals. Follow-up treatment appointments will be scheduled on a space-available basis. Appointments for children 15 and younger with limited access to dental care can be scheduled by calling 683-8095. Medicaid and sliding scale fees are accepted.

Multiple calls of fireworks set off late into the night, possible illegal fireworks • July 5 2:13 a.m. — Threats via cell phone texts were reported on the 600 block of Gasman Road. 8:42 a.m. — All four tires slashed on a lawn mower was reported on the 100 block of West Silberhorn Road. 10:52 a.m. — A purse reportedly was stolen from a van on the 300 bock of South Olympic View Avenue. 11:17 a.m. — Theft of $15 worth of gas was reported at 23 Hooker Road. 11:36 a.m. — A burglary was reported on the 300 block of Duke Drive.
SUPERIOR COURT Christine Marie Beaver — Beaver, 38, Sequim was charged June 30 with one count of second-degree theft and nine counts of forgery. According to court records, Beaver allegedly used several stolen charge cards at Sequim and Port Angeles businesses on June 10.
