Mick Mcinerney
As the Secretary of the Wodonga Men’s Shed, Mick is kept busy liaising with almost 100 members and multiple community organisations. His involvement in the shed allows him to actively participate in the Wodonga community and he feels that the shed makes a positive contribution to the mental health and wellbeing of older men in the community.
Even though he’s often busy and the time passes quickly, Mick has found that being socially connected through his work at the men’s shed creates an improved sense of self-worth and mental health.
He says that if you’ve been thinking about getting involved in community activities or volunteer work, just take the plunge! You will likely get more out of your involvement than what you put in.
