Location
Albury-Wodonga has always been a meeting place of two cities and two states, across the mighty Murray River. Today that proud historic duality has made it a special place with heritage charm and modern sophistication in equal measure.
Wodonga sits at the centre of the Melbourne–Sydney–Canberra triangle and at the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, located on the majestic Murray River which forms the border between NSW and Victoria.

One of Albury-Wodonga’s strengths as an event destination is its ease of access.
Albury Airport is conveniently located 5km from the Albury city centre and offers over 160 direct flights weekly to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Canberra and seasonally, Adelaide. Regional Express, Bonza, QantasLink and FlyPelican service the airport.
Charter services for corporate groups and individuals are also available to and from Albury Airport through Forest Air and Smartair.
There are also extensive coach and train services from Albury-Wodonga to Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, as well as many other regional centres.
Albury-Wodonga is strategically located about three hours north of Melbourne and six hours south of Sydney on the Hume Freeway. Canberra is also only 3.5 hours drive away.

Population
The combined municipalities of Albury and Wodonga are recognised as Australia’s 20th largest city, with a population of more than 100,000 residents.
However, Albury-Wodonga’s regional catchment is over 360,000 people, which includes Wangaratta, Wagga, Shepparton, Gundagai, Holbrook, Urana, Deniliquin, Corowa, Bright and Benalla – all within a 200 kilometre radius.
Climate
The broader Wodonga region has a largely Mediterranean climate which is characterised by warm to hot, dry summers and mild to cool, wet winters. If you’re after sunshine, there’s plenty of that too with around 240 days per year when you will see the sun shining.

l Hyphen - Wodonga Library Gallery is the city’s cultural hub, a regionally based, state-of-theart facility located in Wodonga’s CBD.

l The Murray Arts Museum Albury (MAMA) is more than a showcase for art –MAMA is an all-encompassing contemporary art experience that balances international touring exhibitions with deep connections to the surrounding regional area and cultural identity.
l Explore local indigenous art outdoors when you experience the Yindyamarra Sculpture Trail in Albury or the Crossing Place Trail in Wodonga.
l The Bonegilla Migrant Experience brings to life the stories and experiences of more than 300,000 post-war migrants who travelled through the centre. It was once made up of 24 blocks and had its own churches, banks, sporting fields, cinema, hospital, police station and railway platform. Today, Block 19 is all that remains of the original site.

The Bonegilla Hall has an amazing history after being constructed by the local farmers at the beginning of World War II to accommodate the freshly recruited service personnel. Later it was used as a Children’s Hospital for the newly arrived European migrant children. After being moved to its current location, it has since been used as a local Community Hall. Set in a beautiful rural setting only 10kms from Wodonga, the floor plan includes a large hall, small meeting/supper room as well as a kitchen, making it suitable for weddings, meetings, dances, and parties. The reverse cycle air conditioners provide comfort in any season and there is accessible facilities, fridges, a small stage, tables and chairs. October 1925 saw work commence on the formation of the bowls green. Today this green is an active, well used sporting feature at Wodonga. The Wodonga Bowls Club is located in central Wodonga at the corner of Hovell and Osburn streets. The club is in close proximity to Quest Apartments, High St motels and the Wodonga Court House/Police Station. The large function room allows for catering for most occasions, but specialises in weddings, birthdays and other more formal events such as wakes. Catering can be provided by the club, but self catering options are available if desired.

The Wodonga Exhibition Centre is an indoor multipurpose function centre that can host a wide range of events, including tradeshows and expos, sporting and community-based events, state and national livestock show and sales, corporate and private functions. It offers a concrete floor, ducted heating and cooling, PA system (accessible both internally and externally) grandstand seating for up to 400 people, and Wi-Fi access. Gateway Lakes is a unique major event site, strategically located on the Lincoln Causeway between Albury and Wodonga. The grassed site is surrounded by lakes to the south-west with the Murray River to the north. The site has its own dedicated power, water and toilet facilities. The Wodonga Racecourse and Showgrounds precinct is within 1.5 km of Wodonga’s CBD. The precinct consists of two large pavilions (one of which provides climate control), power outlets, water, toilets, and extensive open areas for displays and exhibitions. The total useable area of the site is 330,000m2. There is also secure fencing surrounding the entire site with two entry/exit points. The precinct has hosted several major events such as the annual 3-day Border Caravan & Camping Leisurefest, attracting approximately 12,000 people.
