Are your customers saving energy with TRVs?
Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) react to the current air temperature and control the flow of hot water into the radiator they’re attached to until the target temperature is reached. They allow you to create different heating zones throughout your home, despite only having one centralised boiler system and thermostat providing your main source of heat.

The table below shows how TRVs operate according to the number setting they’re on:
These numbers are supported by a series of tests commissioned by BEAMA to measure the overheating that would occur in a residential property over the course of a heating season if TRVs weren’t present. The resulting energy savings were compared and are summarised in the below table:
With rising energy costs on everyone’s minds, by reducing heat wastage throughout the property, the average household could save between 18% - 41% on the heating bill.
The Center range of TRVs comes with a number of features and benefits including:
» With or without a lock shield
» Liquid sensor
» Bi-directional valve
» Thermostatic range: 7 - 29°C
» Frost protection
» All connection sizes offered
» Keymark certified
» EN 215 approved
» 5 year warranty
The underfloor heating market is growing by around 7% each year across both the domestic and commercial sectors.
Customer demand for more useable living space and design aesthetics combined with the 15–35% energy saving that’s achievable are key reasons for this growth.
However, perceived cost can be a concern when suggesting underfloor heating as an alternative to radiators. But, with increases in steel prices far outweighing that of plastic, the current difference in price between the two systems is now only 20%.
Helping your customers benefit from the advantages of underfloor heating can seem like a daunting task. There’s a variety of price points available, which can make budgeting and planning a project difficult and a properly designed system is key to maximising heat and energy savings.
