The RoS badge tells you that these products will let you laugh off surprise rain showers, mist and wet roads. Now you don’t have to compromise dry-weather breathability and comfort to add a high level of water protection. When we say Rain or Shine we mean that you can stay warm, comfortable and mostly dry in damp conditions, in road spray from the group, and even under persistent rain for an hour or so. RoS is perfect for mixed conditions that might include the occasional shower, but we don’t sacrifice dry-weather breathability for complete impermeability. For nonstop rain conditions we still reach for a rain shell, but for all the other days RoS takes the guesswork out of deciding what to wear.

A CORE OF NANO FLEX — The main part of the tight uses our Nano Flex 3G fabric, the third generation of our nanotechnology fabric treatment that adds a high level of water repellency without affecting the breathability, stretch or warmth of the fabric. You get a highly stretchy, compressive fit that moves with you, focusing on warmth and comfort. We built this jacket to be warm and comfortable in those cold winter conditions. And to make you look really good doing it, so you can show that you’re not the guy suffering. We’ve used our lightweight weatherproof GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® 203 Stretch fabric layered over a separate brushed microfleece insulation layer. The cut is slightly larger so that it moves with you and you can add an extra layer for supercold conditions. We’ve built in articulated shoulders for greater ease of movement and shaped the collar to close comfortably around the neck. You have three ample rear pockets plus a secure zippered pocket on the chest for keys or money. Think of this as our speed jacket: it’ll help you through your January and February sessions so that you’ll beat them all in July.

RAIN OR SHINE BIBTIGHT — Introducing Nano Flex Xtra Dry fabric. Eight years have passed since Castelli pioneered nanotechnology coatings in cycling clothing to provide a higher level of water protection without sacrificing breathability or stretch. We never stopped working on improving the fabric, and after numerous small improvements we’re ready with the first major update. The base fabric is a tighter-knit double-layer construction, and the water repellency treatment is improved to offer even more protection. We’re not quite there yet on our goal of bringing full waterproofness to a non-membrane fabric, but this is a significant improvement in making your foul-weather riding much more comfortable. This will also be your go-to tight for dry conditions. It’s a nocompromise piece for all your cool-weather riding. It’s not just about the fabric, though. This is a serious training tight, so it gets our Progetto X² Air seamless seat pad. For total protection in the high-splash area of the inner leg, we use a fully reflective waterproof fabric that adds a high degree of nighttime safety to this tight. The tight is constructed with the bare minimum of seaming, which helps keep the rain out and also makes it more comfortable. This is the best all-around tight that we know how to make with today’s technology, but we’re still working to make it obsolete as soon as possible.

The name of this tight, Sorpasso, means “overtaking” in Italian. That’s what we’ve tried to do with this tight, to make it a bit faster, better, more comfortable. It’s made to be technical equipment for riding in the widest range of winter conditions. The main part of the tight uses our Nano Flex 3G fabric, the third generation of our nanotechnology fabric treatment that adds a high level of water repellency without affecting the breathability, stretch or warmth of the fabric. You get a highly stretchy, compressive fit that moves with you, focusing on warmth and comfort. But then we add a few panels of the Nano Flex Xtra Dry fabric to provide a bit more wind protection and warmth in the front panel and over the thighs, and in the back for extra protection from road spray. It’s not only about the fabrics: anatomical patterning gives a bend at the knee and the hip, while the seamless bib straps lie flat and securely keep everything in place. Our generously padded Progetto X² Air seamless seat pad make long rides more comfortable, and you have multiple reflective panels to keep you visible. We’ve designed this as the go-to tight for a full winter’s riding.

So we fill that gap with the LW Bibtight. LW stands for Light Winter, the conditions that are becoming more and more common. So we build the upper portion to Team Ineos’s specs with the Thermoflex fabric that keeps your thighs and intimate parts warm, and then we add a thinner non-brushed water-repelling Lycra® to the lower legs. You could call this a “convergence” product. A few years back we pioneered the first Omloop thermal short, inspired by pro riders cutting off their knee warmers to just the bend of the knee at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on a brisk sunny morning. We set about making a bibshort cut right to the bend of the knee and realized that we could make it without a gripper elastic and that the extra 10 centimeters of fabric add a lot of warmth. Those first Omloop shorts were made for cool, dry conditions, like the race that inspired them, using our Thermoflex fabric. Fast-forward to 2020 and the new third generation of our Nano Flex fabric is as soft, stretchy, breathable and warm as our Thermoflex fabric, so now we can make this short ideal for cool and dry conditions, but it’s also excellent on wet days. It’s still a pro tool: this short is identical to the model supplied to Team Ineos.

ONE GOAL: KEEP YOUR FEET WARM — We set out to create our warmest bootie ever, which meant rethinking how booties are made. For the windproofing we went with GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® fleece-backed fabric, which also lets more moisture escape than any other windproof fabric. Then we added a second fleece layer with Polartec® Power Stretch® Pro™, which is unrivaled in overall loft. The two layers are thick enough that we had to do a “wheel well” single-layer construction by the ball of the foot to prevent the fabric from rubbing on the crank. We made the bootie high for extra warmth and gave reasonable splash protection. We recommend our Venti Soft Sock for maximum warmth.

With Team Ineos we set out to make a better seamless arm warmer. Others on the market are made with a nylon/Lycra® blend that tends to hold moisture, but we knew we could get better moisture management with a polyester yarn. Working with polyester makes it more difficult to get the right stretch, return and manufacturing consistency, though. It took a year longer than we thought, but we’re all glad we stuck with it. These warmers are a pro rider favorite because they’re crazy light and they’re extremely warm for their weight, yet even in milder conditions you don’t overheat. They’re so stretchy you hardly feel them on, yet when you take them off they occupy a fraction of the space that normal warmers would take in your pocket.
