Thur sday, M ay 5 @ 10 am Meeting on The New Haven Green in front of Trinity Church, 230 Temple Street
Explor ator y Walk to under stand the differ ent exper iences of w omen and men living in the city of New Haven. Women and men can have very different experiences in the same city. Safety concerns, verbal harassment, lack of accommodation for nursing mothers, and inaccessible areas for women with strollers are some examples. As you walk New Haven with us, you will evaluate the city and help us understand how gender interacts with the culture and space of New Haven. Women Walking New Haven is a truly unique opportunity as The Connecticut Women’s Consortium partners with Womenability of France. Womenability is visiting cities worldwide, gathering information about gender-equity in urban environments to generate best practices to be presented at an international forum in France next year. Our perspectives have a chance to not only impact guidelines about women and cities on a global stage but also help local city officials and community organizations come up with collective and concrete solutions to creating balanced public spaces for all.
