Mother’s Day Prayer Dear Father God, We come unto you this Mother’s Day giving you Glory, Honor, and Praise. We Glorify you for who You are; which is our God of the universe. Now, oh God, we thank You for creating Mothers with unique gifts and talents. Thank you for the Mothers, oh God who have unique spirits. We thank you for their unselfish love that each Mother gives to her children. We bless them for the nights that these Mothers spend rocking, praying, singing, into the spirits of their child(ren). We thank you Father for the Mothers of the PAST whose season has left their marks in the hearts of their child(ren). We thank you for the Mothers of this PRESENT time whose life is molding the child(ren) of this season. We thank you oh God for the Mothers of the FUTURE; that because of the mothers of the Past, and the Present, they will be able to sow into the Future Mothers to be a balance that will allow them to be all they will need for the child(ren) to come. And y’all know what?, I am so glad He did! Thank you Jesus! So proud to share a part of your name Mary Lee/Amy “Lee” it’s another testament that your legacy lives on in me. I always respected my Mother and she always respected me as her daughter. My mom was a great listener who would give you straight talk as well. We had this thing as we both got older that we would never tell each other NO. We will try our best to do whatever each of us asked for because it was just us. So we always told each other YES, that we would make it happen and we did just that."

We were open books to each other and for her not to be here right now, it hurts but I thank God for allowing me to have my mother for 50 years of my life and that she was able to celebrate 70 years of her life. self-care /self-ˈker/ care for oneself

www.merriam-webster.com

How Honoring Our Feelings is Self Care As moms, we are often self-sacrificing, which starts from the day that our children are born. But even before that, we were taught by our mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers that we have to do whatever is necessary to give ‘the best’ to our children. That included ‘sucking it up’ as some would put it. Meaning, sucking up your struggles, feelings, and passions. Putting them to the side for the sake of your children. I would like to change the narrative and encourage you to do the opposite. Acknowledge and confront your feelings so that you can heal. So that you can stop the tradition of passing on neglecting self to the next generation. To heal so your children will be raised healed. So that they will not have to struggle with the things that we struggled with and those who came before us struggled with as well. A few ways to do that include: Acknowledging your feelings. Affirming that your feelings matter. Because they do, no matter what anyone has told you. Praying for God to help you to express your feelings in a healthy way. Talking about your feelings to a close friend, mentor, or therapist. Here’s to creating a healed and healing family unit for you and the generations to come!
