April 10, 2023
Dear parents of graduating seniors:
Commencement Exercises are little more than a month away and we are in final preparation for all of the graduation festivities. We are looking forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2023!
In order to help us with meal planning, we need to know how many guests you will be expecting for meals throughout the weekend. On Friday, May 26th, there will be a dinner for members of the Class of 2023 and their families beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Commencement Address and Amici Night festivities begin after dinner at 7:00 p.m. The Baccalaureate Service begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27th. Commencement Exercises start at 10:00 a.m. and lunch will be served to all of our guests beginning at 11:30 a.m. We need to know how many you are expecting in your party for dinner on Friday as well as for lunch on Saturday. Please respond by email to susan_southard@woodberry.org. Please include your graduates’ name.
For family members who are not able to be on campus to enjoy graduation weekend, we will livestream Amici Night and commencement exercises. We will share a link on our website and Facebook page to the livestream and archive the broadcast for later viewing.
Enclosed please find attached a copy of the schedule of events for graduation week. It is important to note that commencement weekend is a closed weekend for underformers so that they can begin preparation for final exams, and thus younger brothers of sixth formers will continue with the school’s normal schedule.
We have three final matters for your consideration. First, seating is limited for the Baccalaureate Service and will be regulated through the issuance of tickets. Each graduating senior is allotted four tickets to be used and distributed as he sees fit. These tickets will be mailed to you within a few days. If you would like for me to give the tickets to your graduate to hold for you, please let me know. (Baccalaureate is the only graduation event where a ticket is needed to enter.) Second, in the interest of fairness and because there is a wealth of seating for most of the ceremonies, we do not allow people to save seats. And finally, while we are delighted to welcome a vast array of family and friends to this special day, the family pet is not on the invitation list. Please do not bring the family pet. Please let visiting family and friends know not to bring their pets. We appreciate your attention to and cooperation in this matter.
Thanks and see you soon!
Susan Southard, Registrar
