Hey There! Welcome, to the 2016 very first edition of “Claws and Teeth� Film Collection! I share my diverse experience with the world through my portfolio of eight student-

produced short films. Their genres range from drama and comedy narrative to documentary and animation. I will be screened annually at Woodberry Forest

School, Orange, Virginia, and some of my films won best of category awards in

international teenage film fests. This is my very first edition, and you will soon see another one coming by the end of 2016.

The Charmer’s Snake—Brothers Harry and Maxwell Barnes worked together to create a fun animated film where a talented snake and his charmer learn respect for each other while trying to make a living. In excess of 500 drawings were used to take the snake along his journey. The Charmer's Snake was produced at Light House Studio.


Documentary

The Art of Edison, is a representative of his name, Thomas Alva Edison, which starts with the same letters. This is a dedication to Thomas Edison and the variety of things he had accomplished in his lifetime. All the footage in the film, from the beginning to the end, was filmed by Edison himself. The song featured in the film is a reflection of his life. The speech in the middle is about Edison, with each clip showing what the speaker is talking about. Edison’s life is a journey, with the pattern of people boarding and later departing the ship at the beginning and end of the film, with waves mixed in between.


Experimental film

“Albeit Mach Frei” or “Work Will Set You Free”—Having a coherent structure and references to other films including Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times and the precursor to the Matrix, the film explores the use of montage.


Fictional Short Film

“Boy Meets Girl” mimics the styles and techniques of three legendary directors, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, and Woody Allen. Having filmed seperately, the three short films have distinctive characters and rythm of edits. With the simple plot of a boy meeting a girl, the director’s touch on cinematography has made these films into comedy, drama, and action films at the same time.

“Making of Ukelele”is a web-series style film, recording the whole process of making a Ukelele for the first time. The filmmakers, who did this for their senior distinction project, expressed their anger, frustration, confusion and joy thoroughly in front of the lens.
