Rick Hyden is one of several volunteers who patrols our streets at night for the good of the community. When you see them with their flashing amber light, please give them a friendly wave. They will appreciate it. See more about the history of the Woodbridge Neighborhood Watch Patrol in a story by Bob Hall on page 16.
Unsung Heroes of Woodbridge Events By Kayo Armstrong
Facilities Sub-Committee
A
bout a year ago, one of our residents had the great idea of forming a group of volunteers to assist with the thankless job of setting up and taking down tables and chairs in preparation for and following community events. And so it was. The Facilities Sub-Committee was created as part of the Lifestyle Committee to not only set up and take down tables and chairs for events, meetings and other functions, but also to manage A/V systems, dividing walls and the stage in the Multi-Purpose Room. It was necessary to form an “official” Board-appointed committee
for this group of volunteers to address WOA insurance concerns. Reflecting the awesome volunteer spirit of Woodbridge, this group has worked at all hours of the day and night and been instrumental in contributing to the success of numerous community programs. When the party’s over and most folks go home, this group’s work is just beginning.

ith the recent hire of the WOA’s maintenance assistant, the role of these individuals will diminish … but not disappear. They will still be called on from time to time to assist the staff before or after events and on spur-of-the-moment occasions when attendance at a particular meeting or event exceeds the expected number.
On behalf of the Woodbridge community, our deepest appreciation goes to these unsung heroes.
