O C T O B E R
A New Look for WoodlandHill.org Over the past year, Woodland Hill's website has been undergoing a change and we are excited to offically launch on November 3!
Please take a moment to explore and familiarize yourself with the new site! As we are still in the transition period, please feel free to share any feedback with us to continue improving the site together. (ngregor@woodlandhill.org) For our current families, the Family Resources area of the website will likely be your most visited area for the Attendance & Dismissal Form, ordering lunches, school calendar, and portal quick links.
Primary P.E.
Primary students have been making the most of P.E. this school year. With Jodi Selzer joining Ben Kelts, the classes have been running better than ever. Their favorite game to play is Oscar the Grouch, where a few students stand within a wall of mats throwing out balls while the rest of the class tries to get them back in! During stations, students are working on their fine and gross motor skills by balancing, using blocks, dribbling and catching, and dance time.
On October 5, Upper El and Middle School families gathered for a friendly game of kickball on the blacktop! Michelle started the evening off with a pre-game stretch! Families enjoyed pizza, popcorn, and sported their sweatbands with pride. While it was a close call, the adults won for the second year in a row. It was great to have our faculty volunteers and several alumni return for the special evening.
Thank you to all the families who participated in this year's FFFD, especially to the Friends of WHMS volunteers and all of those that pivoted from decorating their trunks outside to decorating classroom doors inside!
Fall Family Fun Day
The halls of Woodland Hill were filled with families for this WHMS tradition of Fall Family Fun Day. With pumpkin painting, carnival style games, facepainting, and an interactive reptile show - this was another event to remember!
Art & Makerspace MS Makerspace students learned to use basic woodworking tools to make a hand loom for weaving. In MS Art class students painted on drawings they made of natural objects found on a nature walk. UE Art students met in the amphitheater and used viewfinders to choose a composition for a nature drawing. LE Makerspace students practiced their engineering skills by buildings models of monuments with egg carton cups and craft sticks. Primary Art students used colorful paper strips to learn about shapes and three dimensional art.
