School Dress Requirements All students will wear school dress when attending school or participating in school organised activities (unless advised otherwise)
Health and Safety issues
School Uniform Policy We believe that the school uniform helps young people to take a pride in their personal appearance and to identify in a positive way with our school community. High standards are very important and smart appearance at school will set the tone for us all. Parents have communicated to us the high expectations they have of a uniform code at Woodlands, and the Governing Body will support this. There may be occasions when there is a genuine and unavoidable reason for your child not being in the correct school uniform. In these circumstances, please contact your child’s Head of House in order to provide details and we will do what we can to assist you.
Jewellery – Single ear studs, a simple necklace and a single, simple ring only are acceptable. These must be removed for PE and any other lesson where the member of staff considers there to be a health and safety risk. Following guidance issued by Derby City Council Health and Safety Advisors, the wearing of all other jewellery and body piercing is not allowed. Exceptions are made for religious jewellery and items worn for medical reasons. If you fall into this category please inform the school. Body Piercing – A student attending school wearing other jewellery or body piercing will be told to remove the item(s). If the item(s) cannot be removed they may be prevented from attending lessons and you will be contacted. Hair – NO exaggerated hair styles are acceptable. Long hair must be tied back particularly in practical subjects. Boys must be clean shaven. Makeup – NO makeup should be worn in Years 7, 8 & 9. Makeup for Years 10 – 13 should be discrete. No false nails or nail varnish should be worn.
