Barangay Nazareth Kids avail of Feeding One of the basic initiatives on reducing malnutrition is through feeding program. We believe in the old adage that goes, “Health is wealth and this fits to every one of us both young and old. Fifty considered undernourished children from barangay Nazareth of Cagayan de Oro City have been fed by the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineer (IIEE-CDO Chapter) in coordination with the barangay council of Nazareth and the IIEE CDO Ladies Auxiliary last May 30, 2015.
The program aims to support the barangay council feeding program under the leadership of Barangay Captain, Hon. Jocelyn Rodriguez. IIEE President Engr. Julius A. Waga, graced the opening and focused his message on the importance of nutrition especially to the children.
Academe Representative Engr. Raymond E. Gonzales facilitated the activity by engaging the children to action songs which they actively participated and enjoyed.
IIEE Ladies Auxiliary, assisted by the barangay health workers served the children beneficiaries with rice, friend chicken, spaghetti and juice drinks. The program educated the children and parents the significance of healthy food at proper time and got some insights on how proper nutrition plays a vital role in keeping the mind and body in a sound condition. On the other hand, the group activity enhances the children’s motor and interpersonal skills as they take part in the activity as well as in interacting with the other children.
The IIEE CDO Chapter expressed gratitude to Barangay Captain, Hon. Jocelyn Rodriguez, the IIEE Ladies Auxiliary and the people who have helped make the event successful. The feeding program is the initiative of the IIE- CDO Chapter 2015 officers.
