It was a considerable success when published in 1995, selling many times more copies than the UN's original. It was translated into 23 languages and sold more than half a million copies. Writing to congratulate the young editors, Al Gore wrote: “I read the original edition and, I have to say, reading your’s was a whole lot more enjoyable and enlightening...” 25 years old this year, the planet remains in urgent need of rescuing. Like the young editors of Rescue Mission, millions of young people are again taking to the streets to protest the damage being done to their future home by the human family. Saving the planet's eco-systems, and building a green economy to support the human family is the generational challenge of today's young people.
