#1 Liberian Barack Obama Stamp
In November 2008, Liberia released the stamp in honor of Barack Obama's historic election victory over John McCain. Liberia was the first country to issue an official postage stamp honoring Obama's triumph.
#2 Postage stamp raises Alzheimer's awareness
Helping to combat Alzheimer's disease, the U.S. Post Office unveiled in October 2008 a new stamp to raise awareness. The stamp depicts a woman suffering from Alzheimer's and a helping hand on her shoulder.
#3 Stamp issued in support of Mental Health
In October 2008, Canada Post issued a stamp in support for Canadians who suffer from mental illness.
#4 We Can End Poverty
The United Nations Postal Administration issued in September 2008 six commemorative stamps on the theme "We Can End Poverty". As part of the activities to celebrate the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and the end of the First Decade for the Eradication of Poverty, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs invited children from all over the world to participate in the art competition on the theme "We Can End Poverty". Six of the winning entries were selected as stamp designs.
#5 Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
In June 2008, the United Nations Postal Administration issued six commemorative stamps on the theme "Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities". The Convention was adopted on 13 December 2006 during the sixty-first session of the General Assembly.
#6 Stamps issued to help earthquake victims
Special stamps to help raise funds for earthquake victims were issued in June 2008 in China. The death toll from the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan province exceeded 70,000. Over 350,000 have been injured and many more left homeless.
#7 Canada Braille stamp
Canada Post unveiled in April 2008 the country's first-ever Braille stamp at the Montreal Association for the Blind. The stamp celebrates guide dogs for the blind and has the rate printed in Braille.

In January 2008, the United Nations Postal Administration and Israel Post issued commemorative stamps on the theme "Remembrance and Beyond". The stamp demonstrates the commitment of the United Nations to pay tribute to all the victims of the Holocaust, honour the survivors, and reaffirms its efforts to help prevent future acts of genocide.
#9 Armistice Stamp and Postal War Heroes
In November 2008, third and final stamp in the 'Lest We Forget' series were issued by Royal Mail. The series commemorates the 90th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War, paying tribute the soldiers of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
