Representing and supporting students to develop and achieve
Welcome to the Students’ Union (SU). We are a separate organisation to the University and the recognised representative body for all students at the University of Worcester. Once enrolled, you are automatically a member of the SU, for free. We are a charity (Charity No 1145192), run by elected students, for the benefit of students.
Euan Morrison Vice President Education
This guide introduces you to what we do – what support, opportunities, and entertainment we offer to help you get the best out of your time here. We are your elected Full-Time Officer team for the year and have different responsibilities to ensure students are involved in the design and development of the academic and non-academic experience at Worcester. We sit on all senior University committees to ensure your voices are heard but, most importantly, we make sure we talk to as many students as we can throughout the year. If you want to find out more please take a look at our website: www.worcsu.com If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please do get in touch. Our contact details are on the back page of this guide. We really look forward to meeting you.

Student Council consists of student reps from across the University, its campuses, accommodation, and Institutes. It is the overarching policy maker and representative body of the Union. We hold elections every October and March for the various elected positions so look out for those – you could be the next President of the SU or the Rep for a whole cohort of students.
Academic Representation Every course in every year group has a Rep who is trained and supported by the SU. They volunteer to represent their peers on their course, feeding back views to the SU and the University. They also work with Institute Reps (also students) who then liaise with Euan as the Vice President Education. Course and Institute Reps attend University Committees and hold regular forums to communicate and feedback directly with the University.
Be a Part of Volunteering The SU helps students to volunteer Working us and and develop with their skills employability whilst at University. There are opportunities with us in the SU (as one of our SU Support Crew) or within local and national organisations. You are accredited for any hours you do which really helps your future employability post graduation. To find out more go to www.worcsu.com/volunteer
RAG Committee RAG stands for 'Raise and Give' and that's exactly what this team does. The Student RAG Committee organise fundraising events to support our nominated charity which is chosen annually by students. The SU can also support any student to fundraise for the charity of their choice. Find out more about how you can get involved at www.worcsu.com/volunteer/ ragcharities
Working with us The SU aims to employ students wherever it can and, in fact, couldn’t operate without its team of wonderful student staff. Students work behind the bar, on our Welcome Desk, as admin/student engagement support, and in our marketing department and are key to us continuously improving what we do. Look out for opportunities on www.worcsu.com/yourunion/ vacancies and social media.
Sports Play for fitness, fun, to try something new, or to compete in BUCS. We currently have around 40 sports clubs, with 38 teams competing nationally in BUCS, and others existing purely to have fun. Students run the clubs through committees, developing their own organisational, business and management skills. For competitive teams, the sporting year finishes with the annual Varsity against the University of Gloucestershire. Find out more at www.worcsu.com/sport
Societies Societies are a brilliant way to meet like-minded people or try new things. There are course based societies, those representing different student groups, as well as performing arts and special interest societies. They are also run by student-led committees and supported by the SU to grow and develop. There are currently 40 societies in the SU, so you’ll have no trouble finding the right one for you, or you can set up your own! Find out more about current clubs and societies or how to set up your own at www.worcsu.com/ sports_activities Find out more about Volunteering, Sports and Societies at Worcester Students’ Union at our website: www.worcsu.com
