Candidates and Manifestos MATURE STUDENTS’ OFFICER Helen Manners – Education Studies

Hello, my name is Helen Manners and I am currently a full time 2nd year student studying Education Studies. I am also a mature student, a commuting student and a working student. I am standing for the role of Mature Students’ Officer as I want to help give a voice to a group who make up 64% of the student body here at The University of Worcester. I also want to help support students on professional courses who are categorised as mature students by the University but who may not, necessarily, classify themselves as such. If I am elected my primary aims will be: Voicing concerns and issues that have an impact on mature students and their university experience. Raising awareness amongst mature students of the services and assistance provided by the Students Union that may be beneficial to them. Working with the Students Union, the University and student groups to try and address hidden costs associated with placements for undergraduate, post graduate and professional courses. Collaborate with part-time students, students at partner colleges and placement based courses to ensure transparent communication regarding Students Union and University related information and activities. Increase mature student representation across all aspects of the Students Union including sports/societies, committees and student staff. If you support these aims then please take a moment to vote at www.worcsu.com between 8am on Tuesday 4th March to 4pm on Friday 7th March and mark me as your number one choice for Mature Students’ Officer. Many Thanks
