WHY vote for me?
I’ve been there! Studying abroad is a challenging yet enthralling experience and to some extent, most non-UK students go through the same process of adapting and integrating in a new country. Approachable, friendly & communicative: I’m happy to discuss any issues you might encounter. Relevant experience: o I have been part of the Student Council as a Non-UK students’ representative. o Psychology StAR.
o I have been a member of the International Committee for two years now and I have worked closely with the previous Non-UK Officers. o PsychPALS Scheme Coordinator in the Psychology Society. o I work for the International Office as an International Student Support Ambassador: In this role I help to plan effective and enjoyable inductions for incoming international students, provide a ‘Meet and Greet’ service and plan and deliver a social programme.
AK TONG My name is Andy Kevin Tong and I am running the position of Non-UK students' officer in this election. A few years ago, I used to be a vice-president when I was studying in high school in China. During that time, I learnt how to run an activity smoothly from those experiences. Due to this I feel I am good at organising activities and work as a team. I am a conscientious person so I always try my best to do something and never give up easily. This also allows me to have the ability to work under pressure and keep going. I cannot say I am perfect however I will do my best to contribute all I know to make sure everyone will enjoy every activity that I am involved in. Equally important, I will not only provide extracurricular activities for international students but also help them if they have problems with their course. If I was the non-UK students’ officer, I would create a club for international students who want to practice their language. I would invite some British students to take part in the club and this would provide an opportunity for international students to get some new friends and improve their languages. My aim is to create a peaceful and friendly environment for every non-UK student when they are studying abroad. I will try not to let anyone feel lonely and helpless and I will be the person who will provide as much help for them.
