Prayers for the First Week of Advent
Light one purple candle this week. Opening prayer: All make the sign of the cross and say: “May we keep the Lord’s words in our hearts and minds.” Closing prayer: “Father, open our eyes and hearts to ways we can love while we wait for Jesus.” Response: “Let’s love while we wait for Jesus.” Or Sing:
O come, O come Emmanuel, And ransom captive Israel, That mourns in lonely exile here, Until the Son of God appear. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel.
End with an “Our Father.”
