esterday, we saw that Jesus’ call, “Repent, and believe in the good news” (Mark 1:15), seemed out of place because it wasn’t followed by accounts of people actually repenting. Well, that changes with the stories we’re going to read today. But they’re not the accounts of repentance you might expect. Perhaps the most striking of these is the account of the paralyzed man in Mark 2:1-12. It’s a familiar enough story— Jesus is at home speaking to such a large crowd that the paralyzed man’s friends can’t get in the door. They resort to 26
