we sat in the grass humid from the evening rain with the dancing dewdrops that sparkled in your eyes until they ran down your face and stained your beige sweater with a damp shadow

i didn’t ask because we are merely strangers a face in an endless hallway the crescendo of piano keys before they come to a slamming halt
