Tell us a little about the background of Hystar?
Hystar was founded back in 1977 by Stephen Hyde from where the company gets its name. Stephen played around with the letters in his name, ‘Stephen Arthur Hyde’, eventually coming up with HYSTAR. Stephen initially started his career as a Structural engineer and moved onto Property development before retiring and leaving his sons Timothy and Andrew to take over the Hystar Group. Both sons attained construction qualifications and joined the family business in 1994, the first few years were spent gaining invaluable experience on site at numerous Hystar developments, before transitioning to the office and becoming Directors of Hystar.
What would you say is the major attributes your company offers?
Over the past 47 years we have built long standing relationships with Clients, land and estate agents, planners and architects and combined with our vast building experience and strong network of expert certified contractors and tradesmen, means we can offer a complete end to end service.
We can turn a vision into a reality with our ability to take the project from its conception through to the feasibility and planning approval stages right through to delivery. Key to the success of any development is project management and our expertise ensures projects are delivered
We pride ourselves on taking a customised, personalised approach to each project listening to requirements and offering pragmatic solutions to problems that may arise and have the confidence to take on challenging and complex projects. For many years we have been practising ways to reduce the environmental impact of a build, working with suppliers to provide building materials which are recycled or reclaimed and looking at methods to reduce energy consumption within the home. Whether it be discreetly installing solar energy panels, installing alternative energy efficient heating systems, or laying sedum roofs.
In terms of the size of a build or rebuild are Hystar more suited to larger renovation projects?
Hystar are mostly suited to larger renovation projects. Our focus as property developers is to undertake acquisition, design , planning and build services of any requirement including swimming pools. Whether renovating an existing property, developing a residential site or commercial premises, we apply the same high level of service.
Is their a local project that comes to mind that you’re particularly proud of?
Our most recent local project was eight luxury apartments in Blanford Road Reigate which was built to a very high standard. We have built many new builds, extensions, and refurbishments in Reigate area as well as St Georges Hill, Oxshott and surrounding areas.
What do you enjoy most about running your business?
