Welcome
Dear colleagues
Welcome to Paris for WorldDAB Automotive 2023.
It’s nearly six years since we held our last major event in Paris – the General Assembly of 2017 – and the timing of this year’s event is no accident.
In 2017, France was taking its first steps towards the roll-out of national DAB+; later this year this dream will come to fruition. The roll-out will have reached well over 50% of the French population, key autoroutes will have coverage, and the first large-scale national marketing campaign will commence.
This is an important milestone for DAB+ radio – not only in France, but for the whole of Europe. And I am delighted that we are being hosted in the superb surroundings of La Maison de la Radio, home of Radio France.
As for the event itself, it is great to welcome such a strong line up of speakers, led by Sibyle Veil, President/CEO of Radio France and Jean-Francois Labal, Digital Partnership Head at Renault.
The key themes for this year’s event fall under three broad headings:
1. The importance of maintaining (digital) broadcast radio’s position and prominence in the car
2. The latest trends and initiatives relating to the in-car audio experience
3. The results of Edison’s qualitative research into the in-car digital radio experience
I am sure that we will all find items of interest amongst this agenda.
As ever, my sincere thanks and admiration go to Bernie and the project office team. It is only through their enthusiasm and commitment that we can bring you such a stimulating and enjoyable event.
Best wishes
Patrick Hannon President, WorldDAB

NEW RESEARCH - Does EV charging impact on DAB+ listening?
Electric cars and charging stations undergo extensive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing to ensure their compliance with appropriate EMC regulations - but does charging an electric vehicle influence its DAB+ reception? In Norway 100% of new cars sold have DAB+, of which almost 80% are electric - which is why Norway was the first country to be surveyed.
