The hotel was formerly the City Hall which was re-built after it was destroyed in 1944 during the Second World War. The City Hall operated from this building from 1949 until 1988 when it relocated. The building is protected and a lot of details had been saved and restored over the years. To date, the city council room includes rare Paavo Tynell lighting fixtures and beautiful wood inlay doors.
