Looming large and welcoming you to Cape Town, whether you are arriving by plane, train, boat or automobile, is the iconic Table Mountain, one of the 7Wonders of Nature. Looking at it from below is one thing, but it is quite another to be atop the mountain, from where one is afforded such wonderful views of Cape Town, Robben Island, the Peninsula and beyond.
There is a restaurant atop the mountain offering full meals as well as a small shop where you can pick up a snack and a post card. One could also pack a tasty picnic to enjoy at the top, remembering of course that you will be in the Table Mountain National Park, so please make use of refuse bins, or beer still take all your waste down with you.
One can of course walk up Table Mountain, but geing to the top of Cape Town’s mountain doesn’t have to involve any more exertion than stepping aboard the 85-year-old Table Mountain Cableway which provides one with a gentle, quick and vista-full trip up to the top of the mountain.

CITY HALL AND GRAND PARADE Cape Town’s City Hall was built in 1905 in Italian Renaissance style, and is one of the last Victorianstyle sandstone structures in the Mother City. Despite showing its age, Cape Town’s iconic City
OWN Hall continues to be sought out by urban explorers. Upon entering, beautiful mosaic floors lead to a marble staircase, which guides visitors upwards to vintage stained glass and a 3 165-pipe organ. Its classical, Darling Street facade, and an impressive half-size replica of London’s Big Ben, are also a source of fascination to visitors, particularly those who have been to London. MARTIN MELCK HOUSE Martin Melck House is one of the oldest colonial homes in South Africa named aer its first owner. Its history is intimately entwined with that of Cape Town itself.
In 1764 Martin Melck, a Prussian mercenary in the service of the Dutch East India company, retired and was granted the vacant lot adjoining the one on which the museum stands. A religious man and a Lutheran, he proposed the construction of a Lutheran Church, employing the renowned French architect Louise Thibault to design the parsonage. The German woodcarver Anton Anrieth was commissioned to ornament the façade and interior. The resulting neo-classical styled building is one of the finest remaining specimens of old Cape Town domestic architecture. Martin Melck house stands together with the Lutheran Church and Kosterhuis, which houses the Netherlands Embassy, as a unique historical remnant on Strand Street in the centre of modern Cape Town.

Situated at the base of the Hoentots Holland mountains on the False Bay coast, the prey village of Gordon’s Bay is a favourite spot in which to enjoy a relaxing holiday.
Cape Town and her surrounding coastline has some wonderful beaches, but none are more interesting or beautiful than Boulder’s Beach in Simon’s Town. This beach, with its wind sheltered bays and safe sandy shores, is home to a breeding colony of over 2,000 endangered African Penguins.
The gliering lights of Cape Town lie only 40 minutes away from Gordon’s Bay, a scenic cove with a sheer mountain backdrop, and you’ll reach the airport in half an hour by car. One of the most popular places in Gordon’s Bay is Bikini Beach, and even though the beach itself is small and parking limited, it’s worth trying to find an empty spot along with other holidaymakers during peak season. Thanks to its sheltered locality between the mountain and harbour, Bikini Beach comes into its own when the wind is howling. It enjoys Blue Flag status, aesting to its water quality, safety and related international criteria.

Boulders Beach forms part of the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area and an entrance fee is required to access these sandy shores that are home to the tuxedoed lile bird. Strictly controlled access to this beach by the SANparks authority ensures that it is always clean and tidy and that the facilities, which include toilets and outdoor beach showers, are well maintained and spotless. The beach is seldom crowded and is a real hit with lile one’s as it offers a very gentle and warm ocean swimming experience.
SCENIC DRIVES – CONSTANTIA WINE ROUTE Constantia Valley is the oldest wine-growing area in Southern Africa and features superb wine estates, fantastic shopping opportunities and a variety of excellent restaurants. Located at the centre of the Cape Peninsula, the Constantia Valley stretches up the south-east slopes of the Table Mountain National Park and is just a 10-minute drive from Cape Town’s city centre. Since the days of governor Simon van der Stel (late 1600s), Constantia Valley has been famous for its superb wines. Today a number of South Africa’s finest vineyards can be found in the valley, including Groot Constantia, +27 21 794 5128,

The concept was born in 2003, the year of the introduction of the Zonda S Roadster.The early 2000s were prosperous for the world of supercars. The commitment of big car manufacturers have contributed to the rise of extraordinary cars like the Bugai Veyron, Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes McLaren SLR. This context led the team to make several observations concerning the future of the Zonda
and what could be a new Pagani. Since the original design of the Zonda was done in the early 90s the first thought was that it was now an obsolete project and we decided to imagine the car totally different in form, dimension, dynamics and technology, all this without losing the essence of their approach, to follow a concept born in the Renaissance where Leonardo da Vinci told us that art and science are disciplines that need to walk alongside. The eternal element air in all its forms, especially wind, became determining in defining

the concept and it was a great inspiration, as it is ever present in our lives: a jet turbine, the silence of a glider... the elegance of the wind movements but also the violence and force that it can unleash. The Huayra is made of more than 4000 components (engine and gearbox not included). To create them and put them together requires creativity, patience and passion that was shared with a fantastic young team and with the most competent partner in all sectors.
SEVEN YEARS OF HARD WORK HAS LED TO THE BIRTH OF THE HUAYRA, PROJECT NAME C9.
In defining the size, they immediately thought of a car that would be longer than the Zonda, a track increased by 70 mm, a cabin position shied 40 mm to the back and even more spacious. The silhouee should be so, easy to read and form itself from lean and sleek lines that have a clear beginning and an end. During these five years wthe best compromise was found working on 8 scale models and 2 full scale models, as well as hundreds of drawings.
The ideas were of including elliptical shapes reminding of our brand in the front and at the back, keeping the central exhaust as the completion of the line of the canopy, the line starting at the headlight area that continues and ends into the air intake. We also thought from the beginning of active aerodynamics. Flaps that are activated according to the study of results gathered through calculations and aerodynamic testing. The whole car is shaped as a wing so it was necessary to create a high front to reduce the length of the upper part of this wing to counteract li. The active suspension in the front and the 4 flaps allow to optimally balance the drag coefficient and downforce. Mercedes-AMG has created a truly unique and lightweight engine, a twin turbo with 730 HP and 1000 Nm of torque that perfectly complements the car giving a feeling that has motivated our research: that of the brute force of an airplane taking off. The main focus was in a power delivery that was
linear and not with lag, because that could potentially create safety problems or a continuous operation of electronic driving aids. Mercedes-AMG already 5 years ago thought about the coming environmental restrictions by creating a 12-cylinder engine that is at the peak of efficiency in terms of CO2 and consumption. Pirelli has created a very progressive tyre with a exceptional grip in all situations and with low rolling friction. Every aspect of safety was treated taking into account the dynamic by which most accidents with high performance rear engined cars occur. While developing the C9 we witnessed the evolution of the different models of the Zonda and it showed us that the Zonda wasn’t obsolete as I had originally feared. The Zonda R has been a key laboratory for the Huayra. The team was able to work on many projects at the same time driving on different tracks that occasionally came to meet by sharing engineering concepts, materials, safety and scientific or design studies.
