ADVENTURES The countryside surrounding Amanbagh reveals the ruins of an ancient empire embedded in a starkly beautiful landscape. The 17th-century township of Bhangarh - abandoned just a generation aer its completion - sits nearby, as does the centuries-old village, fort and temple of Ajabgarh, which can be reached by foot or camel from the resort. Sariska National Park, home to tigers, jaguars, sambar deer and more, is a short drive away, as is the temple town of Neelkanth, with more than 80 temples encircled on all sides by mountains. Deserted from early in its history, Bhangarh is home to remnants of palaces, temples, pools and bazaars preserved amid green lawns and age-old ficus trees. Built in the 17th century by Diwan Madho Singh of the Jaipur royal family, Bhangarh is a national heritage site to which the resort can arrange private guided visits. The fort and old temple of Ajabgarh date to 1635 – its marble façade and 24-pillared open courtyard remain majestic today. Accessible from Amanbagh by camel, foot or jeep, Ajabgarh overlooks Jai Sagar Lake, on which shikara boat trips can be arranged.
DINING The regal, high-ceilinged Restaurant, looking out over the tree-shaded pool, serves seasonal menus that are centred on the harvest from the resort’s 8,000-square-metre organic gardens. Traditional Rajasthani dishes mix with the chefs favourites from across India, all of which can be tailored to suit individual tastes, to a backdrop of local musicians performing Indian folk and popular songs Locally-sourced, organic ingredients are integral to Amanbagh’s cuisine. Three-quarters of the produce used in dishes such as the Rajasthani thali and Hyderabadi lamb biryani are grown in the on-site organic garden, and all poultry is customreared in a free-range seing. www.aman.com/resorts/amanbagh

LUXURY SPORTSWEAR
NIKELAB X OLIV ROUSTEING
A GOLDEN TOUCH French fashion designer Olivier Rousteing is known for tailoring formfiing silhouees, but it’s his love of football — dating back to childhood — that sits at the heart of the NikeLab x Olivier Rousteing: Football Nouveau collection. The second collaboration in NikeLab’s Summer of Sport series blends Nike innovation with Rousteing’s creative vision. “Fashion is usually about the catwalk and the glamour, but with Nike it was about performance and the athletes,” explains Rousteing. “What I love about this collection is that we are integrating the iconic style of football into sport style.” Taking the lifestyles of professional football players competing in Europe’s biggest championship this summer as inspiration, the men’s and women’s offerings are designed to meet off-pitch performance needs while pushing the sport’s aesthetic forward. Iconic football designs are reimagined through modern silhouees and paired with luxury finishes, including touches of gold, the color of champions. “Olivier was obsessed with the complete look, making sure each piece worked together — not just within the men’s and women’s collections, but also between the two,” confirms Jarre Reynolds, NikeLab Senior Apparel Design Director. “At every design review, he’d ask, ‘Would a football player really wear that?’ That question helped keep the collection rooted in sport.”
|8|
This fixation with authenticity further extends to the collection’s footwear, which includes sportstyle models inspired by Nike Football’s four silos: Mercurial, Magista, Hypervenom and Tiempo.“Olivier is meticulous about the details, with a passion for finding clever ways to embellish existing structures,” says NikeLab Senior Footwear Innovation Design Director Nate Jobe. “This obsession with finishing manifests itself especially well in the Magista and the Mercurial. In each model, we’ve embroidered paerns into the Flyknit for the first time, which creates a completely new expression of the technology.” NIKELAB FOOTSCAPE MAGISTA X OR Designed for unstoppable playmaking, the Nike Magista football boot is reengineered for everyday wear with the Air Footscape Freemotion tooling. The Flyknit upper is embellished with metallic gold embroidery, while the heel features a metallic gold zipper. A leather pull-tab and metallic gold aglets add a luxurious touch.
VIER
NIKELAB N98 JACKET X OR The classic N98 Jacket has been transformed to reinvent the off-pitch look of football. Both the men’s and women’s versions feature gold framing and an embroidered woven crest placed over the heart, a traditional location for football crests. Meanwhile, the women’s version is versatile enough to be worn either as a dress or a jacket.

LUXURY SPAS
THE RITZ-CARLTON
SPA HONG KONG Yumi Kwan, Spa Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Hong Kong, says her lifetime mission is 'the quest of balanced lifestyle – balancing mind and body creates a new state of mental and physical health, plus beauty and self-esteem'. This is what has been her own personal goal throughout her entire adult life. She always wanted to be a spa therapist, and she studied in both her native Thailand and in the UK with the alltime goal of managing a world-class luxury spa.
| 44 |
And here she is, today, heading what must surely be the world's highest spa, on the 116th floor of what is undoubtedly the world's tallest hotel, in terms of numbers of floors – the 312-room The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, is on the 102nd to top floor of the 118floor, 480-metre high, ICC Tower on Hong Kong's mainland side. Designed by Su Seam Teo of LTW Design Works in sophisticated champagne hues, The Ritz-Carlton Spa, covering 4,480 sq m in all, has 11 treatment rooms, and although it is managed by the hotel it has ESPA as its exclusive consultant, and only uses ESPA products.
'Our most popular treatments are Lava Shell Body Therapy and the Massage Experiences, and whatever they are coming in for, I encourage guests to think of it as a spa journey', explains Yumi Kwan. She wants them to arrive 30 minutes before the appointment time, to benefit from the spa’s aroma steam room and sauna, experience showers and the relaxation room that, with floorto-ceiling windows, offers panoramic views across Victoria Harbour to Hong Kong Island. During relaxation, ideally aer a treatment, a spa cuisine menu offers, say, organic green salads, gluten-free pastas and fresh fruit salads.
In all, 43% of clients are male, and about 11% of the total take a couple's treatment. 'Our mix is, on average, 50% hotel guests, and 50% locals, but we can boost the balance very quickly', she says. During high summer, when the Hong Kong A-list is oen travelling, there are right-now promotions to hotel guests. Similarly, when there are the rare slight dips in hotel bedroom occupancy, social media allows locals to make use of come-today special offers. The Yumi Kwan policy, by the way, is to allow children under 12 only to come in for manicures and pedicures, and any youngster aged 12 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, including during the treatment.
