CAMERAS FOR THE SLOPES
The Lily Camera
>>
CAMERA. REINVENTED. EASY AS 1, 2, 3.
The Lily Camera is the world's first throw-and-shoot camera. All you have to do is throw it in the air to start shooting. It flies itself and uses GPS and computer vision to follow you around. The Lily Camera is waterproof, ultra-compact, and shoots HD pictures and videos," reads Lily's description. The Lily Camera only comes with about 20 minutes of flight time—and no, you can't swap its baery, as that would ruin the device's waterproofing. It also doesn't use a physical gimbal to keep your shots steady; instead, the Lily Camera does it digitally. The camera itself shoots video in 1080p at 60 frames per second or 720p at 120 frames per second, and it can also shoot 12-megapixel still shots. These all get dumped onto an included 4GB micro SD card, but you can also use your own if you happen to have a bigger one.
Unless you're really trucking down a mountain on a board or some skis, odds are good that the Lily Camera will be able to keep up with whatever you're doing. It can fly around 25 miles per hour anywhere from five feet to 100 feet away from the person it's following. It can also hit a maximum altitude of 50 feet in the air. However, it can only follow one person at a time, so this isn't the device you'll want to use if you're trying to get great shots of your friends, too. No setup required. Just throw Lily in the air to start a new video. It's that simple. Lily Flies Itself. No controller required. Focus on your activity while Lily flies itself to capture your adventures. www.lily.camera

M sits at the pinnacle of The Macallan’s 1824 Series, an exquisite, sophisticated whisky contained in an exclusively designed crystal decanter. Born of a collaboration between three masters of their cras, Fabien Baron, Lalique and The Macallan, the meticulously craed single malt opens with dried fruits and velvet sateen on the nose, whilst rich wood spices, wood smoke and heavier raisin notes create a highly complex experience with a long finish. Tasting notes Cinnamon; Green Apple; Ginger; Sultana; Vanilla; Nutmeg; Raisin; Orange; Wood Smoke Colour Rosewood ABV 44.7% Nose Dried fruits ripen, then soen showing off velvet sateen. Vanilla accompanies green apple hand in hand, neither taking the lead. Ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon create an ensemble in the background, with polished oak offering to overstate, yet never does, but plays with a depth of resinous, juicy oranges. Palate The palate opens rich in wood spices, slowly showing all their viscosity. Wood smoke flits in and out.
Finish The heavier raisin and sultana flavours take over, meandering to a long full finish. Available around £4,295 www.themacallan.com/the-whisky/the-1824series/m-decanter/

It is becoming Key in new luxury developments to engineer them expressly as art-friendly spaces. The new rule in this art-loving world can be summed up this way: more walls, fewer windows. The plentiful numbers of blank walls are tagged as art walls. These are walls large enough and with high ceilings that can accommodate the large paintings of modern art, and art from other periods. It also allows for a visually prominent display with appropriate lighting. Every grand room now needs at least 1 art wall, architects are inverting the rule that new New York buildings should emphasize light to the
exclusion of everything else, thus providing spaces to hang art. Increasingly, interior walls are not only more plentiful; they are designed much like those of a museum or gallery. Luxury buyers are becoming very artcentric and luxury carcentric.

Ireland to get ‘Orient Expresslike’ luxury train >> A Co Antrim firm has secured a £2.5m contract to fit out Ireland’s first luxury sleeper train – the island’s answer to the Orient Express. Construction and fit out firm Mivan announced the news on Thursday. The Belmond Grand Hibernian will launch later this year, offering two, four and six night itineraries from Dublin, through some of the most scenic parts of Ireland, on both sides of the border. Belmond operates some of the world’s most famous trains including the Venice-Simplon Orient Express and Belmond Royal Scotsman. It purchased the 10 carriages and locomotive for the Grand Hibernian from Irish Rail last year. Mivan, which is owned by Brian McConville, was chosen to transform the carriages into 20 stylish en-suite cabins, two dining cars and an observation car at its production facility in Antrim town. The interior design of the carriages will reflect Dublin’s Georgian Architecture, with inspiration taken from the Irish landscape. A team of 40 crasmen from Mivan will undertake 35,000 hours of work to prepare the train for its inaugural journey from Dublin on 9 August. Belmond said that building the company’s 7th luxury train to exacting standards required cuing edge technology, mixed with traditional skills.
“It is very important to Belmond that we work with local experts and crasmen to create a truly authentic train that reflects the spirit of the countries through which it will travel,” said Gary Franklin, Managing Director of Belmond Trains & Cruises. Neil Ward, CEO at Mivan said: “Mivan was awarded this contract because of our expertise and experience working with the maritime and hospitality industries, however the build of a luxury train is a historic first for both the company and Northern Ireland. “Belmond Grand Hibernian will offer a wonderful experience, a way to see Ireland that rivals the great train journeys of Europe, so the fit out of the carriages must be delivered to the highest quality specifications.” www.belmond.com/grand-hibernian-train

LUXURY BICYCLES SPA is a very old luxury/sport car company from Torino. The company was established in 1906 by Maeo Ceirano under the name of Società Piemontese Automobili before being purchased by Fiat in 1925. SPA was revived in 2014 (when Fiat sold the marque to Alessandro Camorali) to manage designing a series of electric vehicles. And it is the style that is very important, so the SPA brand will also design such accessories as a watch and a line of luggage. This E-bike is clearly a nostalgic tribute to the Boardtrack racers of the early 1900’s.
This is an E-bike that cares more about style than performance. I’m not saying that style is unimportant, it’s just that this limited edition Ebike will be very expensive, and will will appeal to a buyer who appreciates a beautiful and exclusive product. The power system is provided by the Italian company “Move your life”. It is a simple rear geared hub, using a 36V baery pack that is located in the downtube, and power is limited to 250W-500W (depending on the laws in the country of sale). The faux “gas tank” is a very useful storage compartment.
