Overlooking a majestic lake in the 150 000 hectare Malililangew Wildlife Reserve, in a secluded south-eastern corner of Zimbabwe, sits the sixsuite luxury lodge. The rough-cut, forest-like lodge was inspired by, and is a homage to, the vibrant culture of the Shangaan people and is at once modern, stylish and timeless.
Endeavouring to preserve and protect the wildlife in the region, the lodge goes to great lengths to partner with the people who know the area best: the local communities. To that end, the lodge does not employ staff, it has “miracle workers”. People who are dedicated to their duties, and the surrounding area and wildlife, to a fault.
Each of the six suites was tastefully designed and decorated and boasts an array of modern features as well as a private infinity pool. The suites come in two varieties: one-bedroom, or family. The lodge also has a private villa retreat on offer, it accommodates five and it too has a private infinity pool.
The Reserve in which the lodge finds itself is home to a wonderful variety of amazing animals, birds, and plants and guests are encourage to take advantage of the daily morning and night-time game drives, always lead by professional guides. In addition to the abundance of wildlife, the reserve is also home to over 100 rock art paintings, some dating back over two millennia! It’s not hard to see why the lodge was named Singita, which translates to: “place of miracles”. www.singita.com
