EDUCATION FOR PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE (EPEX) A founding principle of the World Maritime University (WMU) is to build and increase capacity for effective maritime administration around the world. WMU’s Education for Professional Excellence (EPEx) programme provides an academic offering to professionals in the maritime and ocean sector and is specifically designed to equip individuals with specialized knowledge and insight for optimal success in Maritime Affairs. EPEx offers a portfolio of short courses for government officials and industry professionals who wish to gain a deeper understanding of maritime and ocean topics. The EPEx Maritime Administration portfolio is a programme targeting professionals with an interest in maritime administration, governance and effective work in international organizations in the maritime field. PARTICIPANT PROFILE The Essentials of Maritime Administration module is designed primarily for key and senior maritime

administration personnel who have little or no prior expertise in shipping and maritime affairs. The Maritime Administrations and International Organizations module is designed primarily for key and senior maritime administration personnel who already have prior knowledge and expertise in shipping and maritime affairs. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS EPEx Module MA-01 5–9 September 2022

There are no academic prerequisites for participation in the EPEx modules, however, it is preferred that participants have completed their education to at least a Bachelor’s level and/or have several years of professional experience. EPEx Module MA-02 12–16 September 2022

The participants are required to either have completed Module EPEx MA- 01 or possess relevant maritime administration experience. The latter may be demonstrated by providing a CV, personal statement, or a letter


of recommendation that clarifies professional experience in the maritime field. Please note that the modules are delivered in English and participants should be able to follow the delivery of the courses in this language. FEES Fees include tuition, access to learning material and meals during course hours. Module 1: 2,500 USD Module 2: 2,500 USD Both Modules: 4,500 USD CERTIFICATE AWARDED Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Accomplishment, and an official programme showing the topics taken. MARTIME ADMINISTRATION PORTFOLIO MODULE 01: ESSENTIALS OF MARITIME ADMINISTRATION

Designed for delivery to maritime administration executives who may have little or no prior maritime background, this module offers an intensive introduction to issues of critical importance in the maritime industry and aims to impart knowledge on the most essential aspects of maritime administration. This is a multi dimensional one-week module designed to give participants a set of essential knowledge and skills that will facilitate their work in a maritime administration or analogous organization.

MODULE 02: MARITIME ADMINISTRATIONS AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS Designed for delivery to maritime administration executives who already have a prior maritime background, or individuals who have completed EPEX MA- 01, this multi-dimensional, one-week module is designed to provide participants from maritime administrations or analogous organizations a set of essential knowledge and skills that will facilitate productive participation in meetings, and optimize participation in deliberations, at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), International Labour Organization (ILO), and other intergovernmental organizations in order to more effectively impact global maritime safety, environmental protection, security, and efficiency. www.wmu.se/EPEx EPEx@wmu.se The World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden is established within the framework of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialized agency of the United Nations.
