Lillete Dubey, Vijay Crishna, Joy Sengupta & Suchitra Pillai in a Winner of Sahitya Kala Parishad Award for the Best Play in English
Like a Man Mahesh Dattani’s
Directed by Lillete Dubey
Dance Like a Man is a powerful human drama providing an insight into the contemporary social scene in India. The story of Jairaj and Ratna is juxtaposed with that of their daughter Lata, to reveal the darker secrets of family relationships and the conflicts between generations. The mode is comic, but the concerns are serious, real and universal.
Produced by Primetime Theatre Company
"Experiencing acting of this quality is transforming, and, no matter how disturbing, the play becomes sometimes, joyful. ...There is nothing in all this that is alien to an American audience. The personal conflicts are dramatic and powerful" -The New York Times
“Dattani's world seems very much like our own, and his theatrical concerns - the bruising fights between generations, the cruelty of art, the many turning points that send relationships awry - are as familiar as the kitchen sink" -The Oregonian
"Mahesh Dattani is one of India's best and most serious contemporary playwrights writing in English." -International Herald Tribune
"Perhaps the most meaningful production in the Indian context." -The Hindu
"Stunningly well acted" -The Daily Mail, UK
"Delightfully stimulating… a production to rave about." -The Times of India
