MISSION and HISTORY Namaskaar Foundation was founded in 1988 with a mission to support, preserve and raise awareness and appreciation for the traditional performing arts and culture from India and around the world. We partner with local and international organizations to provide a unique and distinctive blend of world-class traditional performing arts and multi-ethnocentric educational programs.
CULTURAL IMMERSION We promote the dynamic exchange of diverse cultural heritages by exposing new audiences to music, dance and theater from around the world. Our World on Stage programs nurture and satisfy curiosity about the origins of world culture, helping people celebrate wonderful differences through the unifying arts of music, dance and theater. Over the years, more than 50,000 people have participated in more than 200 music, dance and theater productions featuring traditional artists from Africa, Bulgaria, Burundi, China, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Spain, Uganda and Ukraine.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH Namaskaar keeps pace with demographic shifts and cultural trends in Connecticut and in Westchester County, New York. As our community has grown in both size and diversity, we have expanded and strengthened our celebrations of many diverse cultures. By engaging with our audiences, local businesses, schools, art groups and community organizations, we have grown into a network that reaches more than 85,000 Indians, Latinos, Europeans and Asians.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS We work with our artists to provide pre- and post-performance Master Classes and outreach programs to local schools and youth development organizations. Our artists present traditional and non-traditional performances and educational events rarely found in commercial venues or academic programs. These enriching local educational opportunities nurture passion for and foster careers and hobbies in the arts.
REASONABLE COST
We strive to ensure that everyone in our community can access authentic, high quality cultural events by keeping our performance ticket costs low. We also distribute free tickets to students, the elderly and members of underserved populations.
WE NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT Namaskaar Foundation is part of the rich fabric that makes greater Fairfield County an invigorating and inspiring place to live and work. We are a 100% volunteer organization that needs your support. Please help us build capacity, strengthening our programs and develop our community partnerships.
