AMESSAGEFROMOUR INTERNATIONALDIRECTOR

Welcome to the Annual Report of World Outreach for 2023.

2023 was a year of transition for our organisation as Bruce Hills stepped down as International Director after six and a half years in the role, and I was commissioned to take on the mantle of leadership at our Global Summit in July. We appreciate and thank Bruce for his years of faithful service in leading our Mission

Here are a few highlights of our Mission:

Global Summit

323 people attended our Global Summit in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 24-28 July 2023. This was the first time since 2018 that we were able to gather as a global family after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The theme of the Summit was “Advance”. Our field workers and their families were incredibly blessed by the times of ministry and teaching by Pastor Rod Plummer and Bruce Hills, workshops, prophetic ministry by Alex Larsen, as well as times of worship, prayer and fellowship We were also able to pray for and minister to our Northeast India workers who were greatly affected by the civil unrest in their province, where many lost churches and houses in the destruction.

Thank you to those who prayed and made it possible financially for our workers to gather for a time of renewal and envisioning.

Recognition of Long Service

At the Global Summit in Thailand, we recognised 56 long serving Mission Partners who have served with World Outreach for 20 years and longer. Our longest serving Mission Partner has served with World Outreach for 54 years!

Regional Hubs

As a way to serve the incredibly diverse background of WO Field Workers, both culturally and linguistically, we are in the process of setting up Hubs in various regions in order to provide contextually appropriate services in the areas of mobilisation, training, deployment, field leadership and member care

In 2023, progress was made in the legal registration of the Hubs in Indonesia and India, and discussions were held in South Africa to develop the Hub there

Health of the Field

We are constantly amazed by the faithfulness of God in growing his kingdom through WO. At the end of 2023:

WO was engaged with 191 Unreached People Groups (UPGs)

WO had a total of 298 Field Workers

There were 44 people in the applications pipeline for missionary service.

Testimonies from Global Summit 2023

Here are some testimonies that came out of the Summit:

“I had an amazing time with God and gained a lot in each session This time I also feel like I have a place in the family, thanks to the singles group. I’m truly grateful to the admin for putting this amazing event together.”

“Overall, a phenomenal conference which managed to exceed other conferences we have had, which is saying a lot Congratulations to all the people behind the scenes who pulled off, by the amazing grace of God and truly memorable Summit.”

“The organising team did a great job. I'm really impressed with how well it all came together. You guys worked really hard and it showed Field Workers were incredibly blessed and encouraged Hotel was beautiful with great food and so enjoyable for many Thank you so much.”

“We felt so refreshed and inspired. We did not want to finish the programs!”

“Thank you very much for everything It was truly a blessing to travel after Covid and come to such an inspiring an

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS

Here is a snapshot of how God has been reaching the UPGs in 2023 through our five main focuses, based on testimonies we received from our Mission Partners:

RaisingLeaders

“A leadership training for 200 church leaders was able to impact more than 50 churches ministering in the remotest parts of a country in South Asia At the training, 15 people got healed, including a woman who was paralysed!”

EvangelismandChurchPlanting

“A man has become the first committed follower of Jesus in his area after responding to the gospel and being baptised.”

“35 people received the Lord and 15 people received healing– ranging from deafness, severe back pain, to eye problems, at an outreach event at a rural village among a UPG ”

“16 new believers were baptised and added to a church plant after five years of what seemed like endless difficulties and challenges.”

“These churches continue to be planted in the rural villages north of a Southern African country, and this first-generation believers are bringing the gospel to other unreached villages in their surrounding area.”

“As a result of Didasko Academy’s courses, one of our workers in West Africa has been sending out one team a month to engage with UPGs in areas that are sensitive and have a lot of conflict ”

Children

“The Good News Team in SE Asia was able to visit 64 schools and reach 6,020 children and over 100 teachers with the gospel.”

“A ministry with juveniles was able to reach 381 children in 25 juvenile detention centres ”

“A total of 129 children and youth from three UPG communities were engaged and ministered to in the Child Marriage Prevention Programme. Through the connections made in the programme, 9 families were discipled and one family has come to faith.”

HumanitarianAid

$30,124 was distributed in 2023 to provide relief and humanitarian aid in places that were facing persecution or natural disasters, including Syria, Pakistan, Ukraine, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia, South Sudan, Mozambique and Kenya. This enabled our Field Workers to bring the gospel into hard-to-reach places through serving the practical needs of the people in these countries

“A woman was able to leave prostitution after the Rahab Team in SE Asia helped her apply for a job and the interview at a high level Japanese restaurant. As a result, this woman who is from a UPG is in the process of knowing Jesus as her personal Saviour.”

“A WO team ran a feeding programme and school for children without documentation at a UPG village ”

“WO was able to assist a community in Southern Africa with rebuilding their homes and food distribution, after it was hit by a hurricane.”

TESTIMONIESFROMTHEFIELD

SOUTH ASIA

Through his providential leading, the Lord opened a door for us to speak at two youth camps for a major denomination. At the camps, we witnessed an outbreak of the Holy Spirit that was unparalleled in my 40 years of ministry experience At the end of one of my messages, 1,100 young people spontaneously cried out to the Lord Suddenly, the Lord’s manifest and experienced presence flooded the tent The Holy Spirit was pouring himself into their lives, people were being set free from demons, lives were being transformed, and people encountered God in an amazing way. I have never ministered to more hungry and passionate young people anywhere in the world. It was a remarkable time

G is one of the historical places in the country The churches here are vibrant but lack the training and strength in the Word of God We prayed for the leaders in this region to have an open door and we were able to have 200 leaders from different parts of the region, some travelling over 3 hours through the mountain in the hot sun. We were able to impact more than 50 churches in this location and equip leaders for those ministering in remote parts. 15 people were healed – one, a lady who came to the training paralysed but was able to walk 3 hours back home after the training Many were also freed from demonic possession Many of the teachings were foundational, but to them, this was new.

SOUTH-EAST ASIA

We were able to introduce our team to a National Conference which gathered over 5,000 Christian leaders. Three of the leaders stopped by our booth to say that they came to know about Jesus through the team’s outreach and correspondence course when these leaders were young

SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

“The Lord added daily to their number, those who were being saved.” In this African country, particularly in Q , the number of believers has exploded, way beyond those first four ladies meeting together in their homes those many years ago So often in this wonderful “missions’ journey” we are astounded by the results of what seem, at the time, to be tiny actions/moments/events.

MIDDLE EAST & NORTH AFRICA

Who is like the Lord our God? While on a field visit to the Middle East in October last year, we had the privilege of meeting a couple that is being discipled by our Field Workers They asked them to share their story of salvation with us They are from a neighbouring country and the man was a fundamentalist. Then he and his family had to flee to the country where our Field Workers are based because of the war. As they arrived, he became very ill with Crohn’s disease and was on his death bed. Someone from the Arabic speaking church came to visit them and asked if he wanted to come to the church He said he had nothing to lose as he was dying anyway He joined them for a service at the church and someone asked if they could pray for him in Jesus' name. He agreed and in the next 3 weeks he steadily got better and better until he was healed. This made him consider giving his life to the Lord! His wife said that during this time, she had a dream She said she saw herself holding her hands out before her and a light started to shine from it “And then I smelled God ” (Her eyes shone as she shared this!) “And then a Voice told me: you will work with children ” Today this couple are discipling other people from their home country as they get to know the Lord and she is serving in children's ministry.
