This project has produced three full sketchbooks worth of collages. It began casually, by just scrapbooking pieces of paper that I liked and wanted to preserve somewhere, traditional photo album style. However, after doing this for a little while, I noticed how my mind started to be more conscious of collecting, seeking, and saving bits of paper more intentionally. Then, these paper scraps, cut outs, and saved fiber artifacts, began to relate to one another in the book-telling sort of a story. This happened unconsciously, or rather subconsciously. As I continued, I began to kind of guide the story more, but always allowing things to happen organically, and kind of dictate, to me. I feel as though the books are time capsules, anthropological works, fine art and craft, equally. I theorize that the universe works similarly. Things coexist, even unbeknownst to each other. We interact individually while existing wholly, and create proof of our existence in the meantime of life and death.
