DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION CHALLENGE Are you ready for a challenge?

Diversity and Inclusion are among the six Strategic Priorities of WOSM and its promotion is an important part of the 2014-2017 Triennial Plan. Many Rover Scouts and young adults in Scouting have been involved in significant projects that are making a great impact in their communities and raising Scouting’s profile in this area.

WHY are we launching this challenge?

We want to promote and reinforce Scouting as a movement that values diversity and is inclusive and open to all.

WHY should you participate?

We are challenging you to contribute to WOSM’s Promising Practices on Diversity and Inclusion. If your project is one of the best projects, it will be recognised by WOSM, promoted as an example of a Promising Practice and displayed in an exhibition at the World Scout Moot in Iceland. The top six projects, one from every Region, that are selected through a voting process, will receive a small fund.

WHO can participate?

This challenge is open to all Rover Scouts and young leaders under 30 years of age, including those who are not participating in the World Scout Moot.

HOW can you participate?

1. Develop and implement a project that is related to the area of Diversity and Inclusion. You can submit a new project, an ongoing project or a project that has already been implemented. It can be a short or a long term project as long as it creates impact in your community and Scout group.

The project can be related to the area of Diversity and Inclusion in the Scout Movement and/or in your community, or is a response to a specific challenge or a need regarding this area in your local community or Scout group.

EXAMPLES: You can raise awareness by developing a campaign, you can organize an activity or workshop around a need or challenge, create a video or leaflet to promote diversity and inclusion, develop a toolkit, etc.

NOTE: The project can be related to any of the rights and freedoms stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

2. Share your project and its impact with us. Fill in the application form and submit your project at scout.org/DIchallenge by 15 June 2017.

3. All projects will be evaluated, mapped and shared on our social media channels. The best project of each Scout Region will be selected by a panel comprising members of the Reaching Out To All (ROTA) Work Stream and displayed in exhibition in the Better World Tent at the World Scout Moot, where participants will vote for the best project. Online voting will be made available for those who won’t be able to participate in the World Scout Moot.

At the World Scout Moot, participants will vote for the best project at the exhibition in the Better World Tent. Online voting will be made available for those who will not be able to attend.
