NIGERIA - The Scout Association of Nigeria during the weekend of 5th – 8th of December 2013 organized the 1st National Executive Committee Retreat and Team Building Workshop after the elections of the Principal Officers of the Organization. In attendance at the Workshop were the Chief Scout of Nigeria who was visiting as a Guest at the National Executive Committee Retreat, the Deputy Chief Scout, Twenty- Four State Scout Commissioners, Forty-Five National Headquarters Commissioners and over Fifteen Scout Administrators from Twenty-Nine out of Thirty-Six States of Federation plus the Federal Capital Territory. The Aims and Objectives of the Workshop were, but not limited to: 1. 1. Setting the right Leadership & Management Structures in readiness for the 21st Century Organization Leadership for the Scout Association of Nigeria. 2. 2. To develop Leaders to be aware of their Roles & Responsibilities as Unit Leaders, Commissioners, Administrators and Trainers towards creating the appropriate supports to that boy and or that girl. The meeting started with over 52 Adult National Headquarters Commissioners and before the end of the three days; over 85 National Headquarters Commissioner and State Scout Commissioners were in attendance.

The topics covered were (but not limited to): Fundamentals of Scouting – the Vision Mission and Values of Scouting, Understanding the Scout Missions, Educational Methods in Scouting and Leadership and Governance in Scouting were treated by day two. 7th of December 2013: was set-aside for the Roles & Responsibilities of Adults in Scouting. Identified Fours Roles of Adults namely Unit Leaders that we all know as Scout Leader (old names Scout Master), Commissioners, Administrative Supports and Trainers who make sure the right curriculum and the high standards that must be met to becoming an Adult Leader. The same Executive Committee went through the Scouting Road-map for Nigeria within the next Four years and the Charter was discussed and the team went into Technical Plenary Sessions to look at the World Organization of Scout Movement Strategic Priorities, our Nigeria Objectives that were aligned towards the achievement of the WOSM Strategies in Nigeria and the team had the opportunities to discuss: “WHAT programs to be done, HOW the programs will be conducted, WHO will champion the programs and WHERE the programs will be held.
