NAIROBI - The Africa Scout Committee held a meeting at the Africa Regional Office premises in Nairobi on 11th and 12th October 2012. This was the first ordinary committee meeting after the 15th Africa Regional Conference. Present at this meeting was the Chairperson, Gilbert Mussumba, the Vice Chairperson, Bachir Diouf, the Treasurer Mr. Jeremy Naivasha, the Secretary and Regional Director Mr. Frederic Kama-Kama, the Chairperson of Youth Advisors Ms. Grace Michuki and members Mr. Danielo Ramsamy, Ms. Jeanne Ebongue, Mr. Kikas Muchado and Dr. Wayne Davis. The meeting focused on revitalizing Scouting in Africa and ensuring its sustainability. The members also identified the priorities of the region and were assigned tasks linked to these priorities. They were also tasked to provide support to zones, which were allocated to them.

Among the issues discussed were the global issues facing WOSM, support to NSOs with governance and democratic transitional issues, the Youth Forum terms of reference and actualizing the 3-year strategic plan for the region. Among the resolutions made were: · The ASC resolved to reintroduce the annual subscriptions to NSOs in order to support and sustain Scouting in the region. · Dr. Wayne Davis was appointed as the representative of WOSM in future Africa Union Heads of Summit meetings as WOSM enjoys observer status with the Africa Union · To encourage NSOs to contribute more to ongoing deliberations on the global issues The next meeting will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the margin of the Africa Scout Day celebrations to be held from 10th-14th March 2013.
